Bought this from Japanese Engine Import in Manassas, VA. Great people there. Its an H23A Vtec Blue top with the T2W4 Euro-R LSD transmission. Pretty excited, going to build a full length tuck harness for it in the coming week, so stay tuned.
nice. these motors are a dime a dozen over here. they are in every torneo. the lsd is cool though. what da is this going to find a home in?
you got an ecu and all that for it? if you need some spare parts then send me an email. they are very abundant and very easy to source. it should save you from having to special order and pay out the ass for some super tight jdm parts yo…

Im going to run Hondata in a P28. Thanks alot for the offer on the parts Ill be sure to keep you in mind if I run into anything. Although the majority of the parts interchange with the H22
i checked the junkyards today and just looked around. what i thought was your motor was actually an f22b. they look exactly the same. my mistake. its the f22b that is in all the torneos…
As of today I am still waiting on 1 more shipment of harness related items, basically all of the pins I need for the sensors, distributor, and chassis plug jumper harness. The OBD-1 ECU plugs, pins, and crimping tool for the harness came today thanks to xenocron. I’m on the fence about the crimping tool, I am either not using it properly or its just a cheap tool, because the test crimps I did with it didn’t satisfy me as far as quality or reliability. I have emailed xenocron about it and will update you guys on my findings.
In the meantime I removed the intake manifold and deleted the EGR, and the IAB’s. I’m going to run the manifold down to the machine shop to get it ran through the parts cleaner to get all of the trash out of it. I forgot how much of a PITA removing the paper gasket is I have not done that in quite some time.
Those crimping tools can be difficult to use. I used one at my job before and the tabs could bend the wrong way if you weren’t careful. Did it come with instructions?
Thanks for the good words. And no fgo4, they did not come with instructions which is kinda lousy but oh well.
Finally I have an update. I have been working today on the harness. I de-pinned and washed the connectors from the H23 harness and have IAC, IAT, ECT, TPS, MAP, O2, and VTEC pinned and landed with the new Mil-Spec wire in the connectors. I ran the O2 signal wires in shielded wire. I have the distributor, IACV and injectors left to do. I’m waiting on pins to come in for the injector clips since they are different, and I have to make a junkyard run for OBD-1 distributor guts, and IACV from an accord. I also received my EGR blockoff plate from rosko racing. Really nice piece for a decent price.
And I finally got the tool to work properly no thanks to xenocron who replied to my email sending me to another person for advice on it, who then never responded to my email. But after burning up a few pins I got it.
So today while Im waiting on parts to finish the swap, I had made a mockup for a front splitter. Had this scrap plywood lying around and put it to good use. Used some aluminum angle and flat pieces for the brackets. Once this is 100% finished I will either make it out of sanded plywood or some other alternative.
Update today, went to the local pick n pull and got the connectors I needed, OBD-1 distributor plugs, IACV plug, fan switch plug, and an ignitor pigtail. Also snagged a hubcap for my Grand Cherokee.
Anyway onto some progress pics. In order to make an OBD-2 distributor OBD-1 you obviously need to change the plugs, but you need to add 1 wire also. There is a spare spade terminal on the ignitor that is used for tach signal. I added that wire today.
Probably not going to have much time to work on this until monday. I will then wire the harness side distributor plugs, and finish the alternator wiring.
What was your source for the wiring crimper, pins, and plugs? Oh, and a nice tip for putting together the wiring… use twist ties (like you find in grocery stores for produce bags) instead of zip ties. That way you’re not wasting a ton of zip ties plus they’re easier to move around add/remove…etc.
I’d also love to see how your splitter brackets were made up. I assume you built it so that they “break away” when it rips off without damaging your mounting points? Because it’s not if, but when…
Thanks dude, I totally glossed over that little tid-bit… And I can’t take credit for the idea, but I have browsed some of the splitter threads on other forums, plus everyone I know that runs one has ripped theirs off at least once. If you never go off track then you’re not close enough to the limit!
