TurboG2Teg's Engine swap mania thread

Update, ran the car at the track. I am the car on the right, car 4477.

Dyno’d the car yesterday at Innovative Motor Works’ dyno day.

70 degrees
Stock H23A Blue top
Deleted Butterflies and EGR
T2W4 Transmission
7.5lb flywheel
HKS Hi-Power exhaust
AEM Intake for a B18B
Street tuned on Crome

203/169

Going to install the RMF Header, 3" exhaust and 3.5" intake and dyno again, will update.

That looks like a fun powerband… How does it feel?

Keep at it!

It feels like a Type-R swap on some serious steroids. I just finished installing the RMF header and Thermal 3" yesterday. That REALLY opened up the top end. I will update tomorrow with pics.

Yes please do i wanna see im doing this same swap but im gonna use a rbc intake manifold

Here it is with the RMF header, and half rad installed.

Here is one of the runs from the dragstrip. Next investment is a set of slicks.

Your going to have a tough time with that. Alot of the K series manifolds end up hitting the fuel filter, heater control valve, and rear motor mount because they turn down so sharply. Why do you want to run an RBC? you know you can make the same power if not more with the P13 manifold with a custom upper plenum

I believe thats only a problem with a strait h22 swap w h22 tranny. Im going h2b with qsd kit. Plus the rbc takes up less space and sits lower so i can get more hood clearance. i got a really good deal on the manifold with qsd adapter plate/throttle body adapter plate, and its was cheaper then euro r intake mani. Nice setup what intake are you using on there?

The Euro R is limited. Its good for street cars and daily drivers, but for racing and making a lot of power it falls short. What are your plans to do with your car?

Thanks. It’s a custom made piece. 4"

The rbc makes the best mid range power and torque. I want to go to a track and just drive im a driver its gonna be a summer car basically maybe autox. Its like my generations hot rod just want a nice build. ever since i had this car its been a project with either a ls motor or a b20 and no vtec. I was gonna build a b20vtec but by the time i get the power a stock blue top produces i would’ve spent alot more then goin h2b from the gate. Without the reliability of a stock motor plus h2b is alot cheaper then goin k. For me anyway. Do you know if its possible to run a full size rad w the h22 in there? I got h2b headers on the way.

Yes, when I first did the swap I ran a full radiator. The only header that will require you to run a half radiator is the RMF because it extends so far out.

is the half rad ok with a 2.3l though? other people use this without issue?

looks beautiful, btw. always wanted to do an H swap. you get so much for so much less!
i was also worried about that sloppy cable feel. that shift kit is very reassuring. if i eve get another da, this s the route i’m going for sure
keep up the great work

Im using a camp 1320 header. The h23 just has longer stroke then the h22 so its pretty much the same motor besides that. Hey turbog2teg are you running a stock oil pan?

and you’ve no overheating issues?

clean da and nice swap! looks fun too drive

I’ve got a 700+ HP H22 Turbo DA. Half size radiator, no problems at all.

sweet. good to know. yea i guess having more rows than a stock half rad makes it sufficient

Thanks. I was worried about the sloppy cables too. But its not as bad as you think.

It has different pistons, rods, and crank journals than a standard H22. Also the oil pan might be different. The 98-99 P13 H23’s share the cylinder head, and intake manifold with a standard H22 but use a larger throttle body, the 00-01 PDE H23’s have a different cyl head and camshafts. All H22’s and H23’s share the same timing belt components

Yes

If your gonna swap an h series with a h series tranny then yea go k but if your gonna go h2b then its def not as much work. But thats a diff subject all together.
