ugh..so tired of this

okay, my spark plug wires keep popping out of place. it’s really killing me. i’ll pop them back in and a few minutes later they’ll pop back out of place. It’s like pressure pops them out or something, I’m not really sure. All I know is they pop out and i know there has been a couple times where me or a friend have missed gears. A friend suggested that I might need new spark plug gaskets or it might just be my wires, I know my wires are shitty (they’re Blue Thunder wires).

I also have 147,000. But it was babied and was driven on the highway to work and back everyday up until 142,500.

Sounds like you have the wrong wires to me.

I put some MSD wires on my car a while ago. They were specifically for the Teg, but they didnt quite fit right at the distributor end of the wires. I ended up gently squeezing the metal ring together inside the boot, and now they fit correctly.
If you can’t replace them right away, a little tighter fit by reducing the diameter of the receptor might work as a temporary fix.

someone correct me if im wrong, arent MSD wires supposed to be used with only an msd ignition device? Maybe u should get some stock NGK wires, they work great.

You’re wrong, the msd wires are just red and look like and work like any other wires. Most msd wires are customized by the buyer and I forgot if they make a specific set for our cars (which is basically any car that had used a b series motor).

If I were any of you and my wires were popping out, I would fix it quickly, if not get rid of them. Why? Because when you change spark plugs, all the dirt that went in there because there was a gap between the valve cover and boot, is now inside your combustion chamber.

I got the MSD set because they offer a low resistance and decent EMI suppression. They are fine with a stock ignition system. Also, if I decide to upgrade my ignition later, I already have a nice set of wires to handle it.

Ummm, NGK doesnt make the stock honda wires. Another company called Sumitomo makes the stock wires. Just food for thought…
