update: timing belt

I’m the luckiest man alive. my timing belt broke on xmas eve and i finally got my car back today. no damage to the valves at all. leakdown test checked out good (didn’t get the numbers tho). all it needed was a new timing belt and water pump. took them longer to wait for parts and tools. i’m so happy i don’t have to buy a new motor or head.

leakdown test

i just brought an g2 integra w/ a broken timing belt, what exactly is a leakdown test? as for the car i was going to try and replace the belt myself and possibly rebuild the head or at leats check for valve damage. any clues to a good head rebulid kit out there. and are there any performance upgrades i should look to do while i’m in there?
thanks

leakdown test measures how much each cylinder leaks air when its compressed. that should be the first thing you do. if the numbers are all right, then you don’t need to rebuild the head. otherwise, start pulling the head off. before i knew my car was fine, i was checking www.thepartstrader.com for built heads and stock heads. doing it that way is much cheaper than building your own. if you do build your own, upgrade everything (cams, gears, valves, guides, springs) while the head is off, it’ll make your life easier.
