At what point do you need to up grade the fuel rail as in how much HP over stock.
i’m pretty sure you need to be a good deal over 200whp. From what i’ve heard you shouldn’t need one unless you’re turbo or supercharger.
u have to understand how this thing works and then u will know how to get the benifits of the rail…
how the engine fuel system works…
the whole system is a complete cycle, from the tank, lines to the filter, pump, then to the rail, then to the regualtor, then back to the tank…
the pump is constantly pumping fuel…the regulator, stops the fuel from going back to the tank. and by doing this, pressure is being build up in the rail…and untill it reaches a certain psi level, then is releases the fuel to the tank. thus this constant stoppin and releasing fuel controlles the fuel pressure in the rail…
the injectors are on the rail…so when the injectors are open…it shoots fuel into the piston chamber, thus the fuel pressure in the rail is decreased. and the regulator thus again regulates pressure.
now why get a aftermarket rail?
MORE VOLUME IN THE RAIL…this allows the fuel build up in the rail to have a greater volume thus, the injectors shooting fuel would affect the psi level as much.
to have the full benifits of the rail…you need aftermarket pump, and regulator as well. to move more gas…
the benifits is felt on the top end.
when the engine is in the higher rpm band, and in the jector are more constantly shootin fuel…the rail will have more volume and hence more pressure and thus more gas at topend…HENSE…car runs faster!!!
understand…
i did my homework before i went and got one.
glad to see you doing it too.
later
chingro: thats nice to hear how it works and all. But you didn’t go over what kind of power it took until it was a good idea to replace it.
no matter how much hp you r pushing, when your engine start to rev higher it starts to lean out…so there for. it does not only give u added power, but it lengthens your engine’s life.
think about it…
stock ls leans out at 6500 rpm…with fuel rail and regualtor, and a fuel pump…that problem is corrected
Thanks for the answers I think that I will get a fuel rail now.

what about pump and FPR?
might as get the whole deal if you’re gonna upgrade one part IMO
Chingro:thanks 4 the detailed explaination. ARCHIVETHIS

many people say the STR Competition Fuel Rail is good. AEM makes a good one as well i believe.
that was fast!..thanks yes i have heard that the str fuel rail is quite good.
thanks again
gen2teg
92GS-R yea i’m already getting a FPR and and prob. a Walbro fuel pump
i am hella fast! haha the STR fuel rail is generally cheaper than the AEM… i would look around first
check out my fast kicks

I don’t see G2 tegs listed on a lot of sites. What other Honda/Acuras will the fuel rail fit on my B17
So from 90-00 are the same vtec or not?

yup the STR will work on B16A/B18C/B18A/B17A engines. the full kit is included to allow use on basically all the integras. direct bolt on i believe. i dont’ have one yet, but soon i wil.
SpeedandStyle has the AEM for 109.00 and I can get 10% off that price 98.10 + They have the best deal on Tanabe exhaust which is what I am getting from them also. I saw where the STR is a kit. I am going to do some research and see if the AEM an AEM off of another car will fit.
yeah actually i don’t know of any g2’s w/ an AEM fuel rail. i know some g3s.
venom makes one as well for VTEC motors specifically.

i guess the aem ones do fit. john (amerikan) has one on his 92-93 gsr. BTW: how do you get 10% off the price? is there a coupon code?
Well they offer 10% off any order to Girlie Girl Racing and a friend of mine is a member and she said that it was no prob. to order for me.
