One thing I’m noticing is a bunch of my old wiring is becoming less reliable. My corner light stopped working recently and when I got into it the old solder had cracked under the heat shrink. Stripped out the wires and replaced the connectors with new self sealing low melt connectors. Did this behind the dash as well for some other modifications.

I’m definitely noticing this too: the wiring jackets are getting very brittle. I had to replace the corner light sockets already because of dry rot.

I also am now very aware of what I thought was a “good enough” job when I was modifying my car in high school and college
Oh man. The number of “this electrical tape connection will work” fixes that I forgot about…

The quality of wiring products is also just so much better now. Those waterproof crimpless connectors are a game changer
