Urgent: How to start a car thatt is COLD?

My winter ride is parked outside, and after being packed with snow, it won’t start…

I’ve tried pressing the throttle 3 times then starting it, a little better, but still won’t work…any other methods?

Try a block heater! He he!

jump start it/boost it…how cold is it in Van? do you still got your block heater in there? plug it in for a bit.

will a rolling start help?
this is a volvo…itz snowing quite a bit…my car is outside and it is 1/4 up my rim…

Spray some starting fluid in the throttle body or as close as you can get to it.

what is starting fluid?
I don’t think I have any!!!
ARGH!!!

ARCHIVETHIS

You can buy it in any autoparts store. It comes in an arasole can and its very flamable. It ignites and gets the engine going so that the gas can start moving and the engine can run like normal.

Your car packed in snow in Vancouver? What, you live up in the mountains or something:rofl:

Sorry, just had to make fun of you there;) Anyway, that starting fluid thingy is available at Crappy tire. I’ve seen it before. You spray it in the TB. Not exactly sure how it helps start the car, but you can give that a shot. Also, maybe the fuel lines are frozen. Is the engine even cranking?

Oz

Yes it cranks, and it will start, but it is rough and will die right away.

Have you tried keeping the revs up? My teg did this a month ago. It would start, then die right away. What I did was, I had the car start, then just kept the revs up (no more than 3000RPM). It woke the neighbors up:p You should only do it for a few seconds. I think it’s a sign of the alternator going bad, fuel lines are frozen, and/or the fuel is old.

Well, I guess now you’re only choice is to roll start it. That usually never fails…usually:p
