Hey everyone, I spun a couple rod bearings in my motor about 4 months ago, well a friend of mine is giving me his old LS Crank pistons and rods. His motor had 240k miles on it but ran fine, my question is would you trust using them with that many miles on them and just buying new main and rod bearings?
You’ll be fine. Just get the crank micropolished and the journals micrometered to make sure they’re still within spec. Get the appropriate sized bearings and you should be good to go.
like frozen said…just make sure the crank is still in spec and u can get ur rods shot peened for $60 at a machine shop to strengthen them up a bit if ur worried. 240k is a lot but you know how Honda is
I thought 240k Wouldnt matter on a solid piece of metal, like said if they are micropolished and all that then its like they are brand new in a way right? I mean a solid crank and rods are really non wearable pieces unlike bearings and stuff. Correct me if im wrong.
