V- tec issues

Does anyone know how to check if vtec is engaging(is there an ecu test you can run or hook up a multimeter) ? Also would a broken knock sensor affect vtec engagement? Last of all, could some one give me wiring steps to run Vtec to pr3 ecu? What color wires from vtec go to what pins on the ecu PR3?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated…

Go to teg tips and read the ECU codes.

That gives some insight on some issues but I still need to know a couple of more things. Thanks for that…

such as…

For instance does the knock sensor affect vtec engagement, and what color wires on the vtec solenoid go to which pins on the ecu?

VTEC SILENOID

I know I’ve said this before, but I remember the wire on the VTEC silenoid on my B16A coming loose and VTEC not engaging. Also check your engine oil; if it’s low VTEC will not come on. Not sure about the knock sensor tho. May have something to do with it.

if you’re running a stock ecu I think the knock sensor will throw a cell, but not really sure if it affects vtec. As far as the connection is concern, its the same as PW0 and I think they have the diagram in the teg tips section under swap.

My PWO is flashing the knock sensor code but goes into Vtec every time! So no , a knock sensor problem will not affect switching into vtec. Check the two filters / orings on the vtec selinoid and pressure selinoid and the connections also make sure that the ECU pins are making good contact on the ECU contacts.

You hooked up the ground on the Vtec selonoid right?

thanks for everything… I got it all straightened out… my da9b16 is runnin puuuuurrrfffect!!! The vtec solenoid ground did not have solid contact and thus producing the sometime engagement…
