I was adjusting my valves, and everything was going smooth. When I got to the 4th cylinder, the adjusting screw wouldn’t move. the locking nut does screw on and off, but for some reason the adjusting screw wont. Any ideas on how to fix this. It’s stuck, and leaves a pretty big clearance between the cam lobes and the valves. NEED HELP ASAP.
have you tried using a ratchet and flat blade socket?
how would i use that? please tell. also, what is a flat blade socket??? i really dont know
bump. really need help!
Sometimes this works, try to tighten the screw first, just a little bit, and may break what ever else it is free and it will unscrew, you’ll know that your applying to much force, but I don’t know if that will work in your case, really weird, because it is well lubed.
thanks but i have tried that. the screw wont loose or tight. it’s just freaking stubborn. Should i go ahead and use a power drill???
haha. hell no.

it’s the one w/a flat blade. use a ratchet and extension
thanks! I’ll go look for it at sears
got the tools and tried again, but still no luck. should i take it to a shop?
hmm. weird. i guess they’ll probably just weld a nut to it and try spinning it off with a socket. it’ll have to be replaced, of course. but it should come out
You could always use a bolt extractor like this but you will need to replace the bolt.

that wont work, since the bottom of the adjusting screw has a rounded base that’s bigger than the rocker arm hole
is it safe for me to go ahead and heat up the screw?
i wouldnt do that because once you heat it up you will also heat the rocker and this would make them weaker and have you tried an impact screw driver.
yeah, i’ve tried an impact screwdriver, didnt work. my friend who is a honda tech says i should heat up where the screw meets the rocker, he says that once in awhile, it happens. He’s already seen this and that’s what he did.
well by all means then try it if hes seen it done with good results give it a try
why not just weld a nut on it?
