Various Problems

Hey guys, this is my first post and first car. I recently replaced my first clutch on my own 2 days ago and noticed the car has a rushing wind noise coming from the back when i drive on the highway and definitely leaking water somewhere in the trunk. Uhm, I’ll just list the problems.

*Rushing Wind From Trunk
*Leaking Somewhere In Trunk
*Driver Seatbelt Won’t Retract
*Clunking Into Reverse (Problem Usually Solved By Going Into First)

Lastly does anyone know how to do this? (refer to picture)

Thanks everyone, and I look forward to this community!

im gonna go ahead and stop you while your ahead…

how old are you?

also, if this is your first forum, let me fill you in on one of the features… its called the search bar. it allows you to find problems that other people have had that you currently have which is all the things you listed.

welcome to the forum though…

18 Turning 19, Is that a requirement?

not at all. just wanted to make sure i wasnt dealing with some 15 year old kid who just got a christmas present or something.

but i do recommend you look around the forum and get familiar with all the information on here.

Not at all, I’m just something called friendly. I didn’t know there was a search bar and now that I know, I’ll use it. Does anyone else know if buying Carbon Fiber parts upsets the balance of a hatchback? I’m not buying them for the “ricer” appeal. I just want to lighten the car.

You aren’t going to mess up the balance of the car… I doubt you’d even really notice it while driving.

There can be multiple leaks in the rear of the car… They typically come from either:
-the tail-lights (the gaskets behind the lights get old and brittle and no longer create a tight seal)
- or the drain-tubes from the sunroof become undone from.the drain valve and let water into the trunk.

I’d run water over JUST the trunk, so it drains down over the tail lights, then check for leaks.

If that doesnt result in water in your trunk, get the roof wet and see if the drains let water into the trunk. If so, you’ll have to pull the plastic interior pieces off and re-connect the tubes to the drains.

As far as the transmission…it’s old… there is a very high chance that the synchros and/or other various parts are worn causing your Reverse gear to grind. I make it a habit to put it in first and roll an inch or so, then go into reverse… solves my grinding 95%of the time.

You can try a Syncromesh fluid from Pennzoil or GM, and that could definitely help.

What transmission fluid did you use when you refilled it?

i replaced the clutch to the engine but i still have to lift the tranny and remount it on the engine, haha :stuck_out_tongue: Why is there a brand you recommend?

Honda Manual Trans Fluid (MTF).

If you have grinding issues, then try one of the syncromesh fluids I mentioned. But I’d stick with Honda stuff if possible.

Trunk leak could also be the antenna drain tube, or the hatch seal. Or the pressure vents on either side.
Take a look under your seat and make sure it is plugged in all the way, for your seat belt issue. Or maybe the plug that connects to the seat belt track.
And as stated before, most of your issues are very common and can be found all over this site once you get familiar with the search feature on here.

So the first thing we need to know is MM&Y of your car???

Just to be clear, your in Abbotsford B.C. Canada, so your G2 should not have “auto” seat belts, unless it is a USDM Integra, so pleas clarify, when you say “Driver Seatbelt Won’t Retract” do you mean roll back into the real, or do you have a USDM Integra?

Sorry could not find a vid of the Integra auto seat belt, but here is one of a USDM Mazda, [pretty much the same thing]…
