Vent Motor? -- Climate Control Problem

I have the push button climate control and the buttons don’t function. The vent has been manually moved to make air blow at the windshield.

Problem:
Had Wet Passenger Floor
Water Flooded inside the vents and blower motor

Solution:

  • Replaced Heater Core
  • Replace Blower Motor
  • Uncloged vents
  • replaced cowels

Present situation:
climate control not functioning. (push button style)

does somebody know if the push button climate control had a vent motor?

Help Please

did a search and went to teg tips already and couldn’t find anything about a vent motor …

Thanks

even though all the lights are still working, you still say i should resauder the contacts?

If it’s pushbutton, i’m pretty sure theres a motor that moves “flaps” to re-direct the air… you may have a burnt out motor if there was alot of water in your vents

Edit: Verified with the helms… there’s 2 more motors … The “Mode Control Motor” and the “Recirculation Control Motor” 21-34 and 21-35 in the Helms…

But both look like external motor units that look like they wouldnt be damaged by water INSIDE the vents, however anything is possible when the water comes out of the vents on to the floor (as they’re mounted on the side of the whole heater system… ) I think you’re after the Mode Control Motor… the Recirculation one is probably the one to either recirculate or take in fresh air… (hence the clever name!)

ahh, okay thanks man. This was exactly what i needed (THAT COULD NOT BE FOUND IN THE TEG TIPS LINK THAT YOU SENT ME knightsintegra)

I replaced my blower motor (recirculation control motor) and i had a bunch it was some kinda of other module that was guilty but couldn’t find a name for it. I was just gonna grab my buddy’s helms to find out what it was but now i don’t
Thanks XtReMe98 (are you from around vancouver?)

Oh… technically there’s 3 motors then

Blower motor, (main big guy) then two smaller ones… Recirculation (know the two buttons on the far right that are either recirculate or bring in fresh air?) and Mode Control (the one that redirects air to vents, floor, etc)

I’d post up helms pics, but i’m at work… Yea… i’m from east van… hit me on msn if you need a hand… xtreme98@hotmail.com

Alright, so i just called acura and he gave me the whole blab about you gotta bring it in and such blah blah blah but i managed to get out of him all the things that i may have to replace.

Fresh & Recirculation Motor $149.04
Climate Control Unit - $286.25
Resistor - $33.73

He also mentioned to me that there are only 2 motor units down there which are the ones he gave me prices on … he said there was no Mode Control Motor …

I’m glad this came up. I just finished resolding my control unit and the buttons work GREAT now. The problem that I am having sounds like the samething you are having. I get air blowing through all of my vents but not the window defroster. I know the buttons are working but no air what so ever is coming out of either the vents at the windshield or the vents on the glass on the doors.
If anyone finds the solution to this please post it.

nevermind, It’s working today. :whew:

how do you manually move the flaps to control the fresh/recirculate on a 92 teg LS? i need to do this, cuz i don’t wanna replace the blower thingy if possible.

okay…i thought the motor or something was blown. the one that controls the fresh air/recirculate. since i noticed dripping on passenger floor everytime it rained, i thought this might be the problem. anyways i pulled out the glove compartment and windshield and passenger vent cowls and saw that the flap that goes up and down was stuck in mid position. from inside th glovebox i pushed the metal pulley system thing that makes the flap go up and down forward to make it recirculate. i turned on the car and turn the air on and played with the fresh air/recirc buttons and slowly but surely watched the flap work properly. i think it was rusted cuz of the rain build up. hope this works for you 92 teg LS owners.

Hey, I’m getting water in the passenger side just like u describe. What exactly did u determine was the cause and the fix? It seems to me that water should not enter the car no matter what the recirculation is set at.

so ur saying that if ur lights are out on ur climate control that it will not switch modes?my lights are off and my mode is stuck on defrost, was this ur problem also?

hmm… this information is helpful. But, I also have a problem that I think is relevant to this thread…

Okay, so I have a 93 GS-R. Ever since I bought the car, it made a weird noise that sounded like it was coming from the blower motor. And even when I had the air switched to OFF, it still blew a little bit of air. It wasn’t annoying or anything, so i just shrugged it off. I got used to it… It was calming. My GS-R whispering sweet nothings into my ear. Time went on. I took a long trip to a town about a month ago or so. And the little whisper turned into a scream. Now I just turn the car on to use power, and it is screaming at me. Still, with the air switched to OFF. I unplugged the blower motor, because the harness is right there. It still made the scream even after the motor was unplugged. My friend told me that it may some kind of solenoid, or the vent leaking. I really love my car, but it is so annoying sounding… I guess it’s a good thing that I don’t have a shotgun, or my entire heating system would be in fragments…

It doesn’t leak any water or anything yet. And the noise obviously makes a vibration, which seems to be localized to right by the blower motor housing. The vibrations are on th housing, but not the dash or in th glove compartment.

And now that I think about it, I can’t switch between circulation and fresh air either. All of the settings switch over (defrost, floor, etc…). But I really need help on this one. Thanks guys.
