Just a very quick question. Oil light came on the other day, but it was flashing intermitently. Check the oil it needed some. Problem resolved. What my question is, with my civic, the light would come on and stay on, no flashing. Is this how the oil light works with a teg? Or does the flashing indicate something else?
The Integra’s oil warning system flashes for a momentary loss of oil pressure, and stays solid during a sustained loss of oil pressure.
How low was your oil for the light to come on and was there a reason it was so low?
Added 2 quarts and could prolly take another. It was LOW. Never checked it after i bought it and it’s been parked, rarely driven in the last month or so. Just thought I’d take her out and the light came on. Hasn’t come on though since putting the oil in it.
The light only started flashing after driving it for aprox 10 mins, or so, and would flash intermittently, maybe 1/2 second intervals.
There’s no leaks from what I can see where it would be loosing oil (nothing on ground, and none that i can see anywheres in the bay). It does have approx 290xxx kms on it, so I would assume it’s burning some oil, no discolouration in exhaust smoke though
Start taking care of it and it will last u past 100k.
I got mines when it was around 220k miles with low oil but nothing was wrong. I filled up about 1.2 qts and drove 3 hrs home with it. Risky.
Well From that day on I’ve been using mobil 1 10w 30 til just recently (5 month) when i started burning oil like 1 qt every 1200-2000miles. Depends on driving habits too. I now use mobil clean 5000 and 7500 10w 40. 10w 40 so if anything slow down my oil burning if that helps. didnt want to waste 23 bucks on the mobil 1 anymore. At least not til i rebuild
My car is now at 318k miles and still running. i change oil every 2200 miles.
