ok, I changed my driverside axle 2 months ago with a reman. everything was just great, now here in the past few days i can here a clicking sound not real loud but loud enough i can hear it. its not always there but for the most part it is, i can hear it going straight and turning in both directions, and the times it isnt clicking i can push on the brakes and it will be there even a little bit louder than the rest of the time. all it does is click, there is no shimmying or vibrations at all.
Now my questions are what would cause it to start clicking so soon? is it bad? and should i replace it?
its just kinda starting to get on my nerves because it isnt clicking near as loud as it was before i changed the axle which was the very noticable “CV Click” so i dont know for sure if it is bad or not.
I kinda have the same problem. i’ve got a fairly stock LS and i’ve broken 2 drivers side CV axles and my 3rd, after just 2 weeks started clicking. Really quiet at first but now after 5 or 6 months is pretty loud. I got mine from a local :vomit:Advance Auto parts. All of them are reman. and have a warranty (i only really paid for the first one) The only thing i can think of that would cause it is that because my car is lowered (about 2.5-3 in) and it is causing the outer cv joint to bind under normal driving, and because it’s a reman. part, the stress causes it to wear very prematurely. but that’s only if your car is lowered. hope this helps a little bit at least!
sounds about the same lol, execpt my car isnt lowered at all lol, but i guess i might call mine a “binding” type of sound its just not the typical CV click
but from what i can tell it is the outer driverside joint(kinda ghetto but) i stuck my head out the window so i could hear it better and it is coming from right there
those remans are junk Imo they are just flipped making them weak on the opposite side. Have you check you front tranny mount? I replace axles four times till i found out the tranny mount was toast. Also check the rear, hope its not the rear cause they are a pain in the ass to get.
Dont skimp on an acura get oem parts, if it was a chevy(no offense domestic guys) get the cheap stuff. YOu cant beat honda oem.
I had the same thing happen to me, I replaced my driver’s side axle about 6 months ago and about 2 weeks after installing it, I started getting a clicking again :argh: I’ve lived with it since then…
On a related note, that axle’s casing has started to rust and the overall axle looks to be in tough shape compared to the pass. side one which was supposedly new when I bought the car
ive found the ones that look better… dont work as well… the axles i got on the red car… they look like they were rusted to hell and they painted over it… they work great… ive ended up with 2 that looked pretty good… one good reman and one was a actual new one (which is probaly the same as the one your saying u got new on your car) they were both junk
on the so called new one u got… read on the straps on the boots… it should have a brand name stamped in… wouldnt be suprized if its a GCK (or very similar name) i cant remember exact initals
