Vibrations and missing clutch cover

I just picked up a 92 gs for pretty cheap as commuter. It runs well except for some vibration issues. The previous owner recently swapped in another b18a after blowing a headgasket. I noticed that he did not have a front motor/torque mount installed. I assumed this was the root of the issue and picked one up from autozone. I should get this installed this week. After getting under the car I noticed that I was missing the clutch cover. Today I took it in to get an oil change. I usually do this myself but am currently without a jack or ramps. The lube place filled my tranny fluid for me and told me I was a quart and a half low. While driving home I noticed most of the vibrations had gone away and was very happy. A few hours later I went for a drive and notice that most of the vibrations had come back. Is it a safe guess that all my tranny fluid is leaking out through the gaping hole where my clutch cover should be? I am currently trying to find one locally. Thanks for any input you can give me.

if you’re talking about the thin, black sheet metal plate, it does nothing to seal fluid. it’s a dust shield. the front torque mount from the transmission to the crossmember really doesn’t do much. 95% of the time it’s torn to shit and you wouldn’t even know it
specifically when does the vibration occur?

Mostly around 1500rpms. Idling at cold start is pretty annoying. Cruising on a highway or the freeway is fine and quiet. But once I decelerate or drive around really slow it comes alive. It is kind of like the car is vibrating like a sub is really loud but I don’t even have a stereo. Could my left and right motor mounts be shot as well?

Check your rear mount. make sure its bolted up and in good condition.

I am pretty sure it is there. I took a look a while back. It might not be in the best condition or bolted in all the way. On a side note; The guy I bought it from still has the original engine sitting around somewhere. He said he would give it to me. Has anyone ever transported a longblock in there hatch?

A little update. I took the car to a local shop to get it checked out. Apparently both my axels are completely shot as well as every mount. I guess that will do it. Being very poor I was looking into the motor mount insert kits but it sounds like this will not help the vibrations much. Hasport and Innovative kits are a little out of my budget. Feel free to point me in a good direction.

About getting new axels… is it a complete waste of time/money to get any cheaper than raxles? I would like to get this done asap but also dont want to come back in a few months and have to do it all over again.

Thanks for your knowledgeable insights

btw the car is completely stock. i am not lowered and probably wont be for some time.

Stick with the Raxles and maybe a trip to one of the PicknPulls in California would be worth it for the mounts. 94

The aftermarket mounts probably won’t fix your vibration issue and possibly make it worse, since they’re normally a stiffer material. As far as your questions about transporting a longblock, if it helps at all, I have transported both a B18A & B20B in two different 2nd gen Tegs. It’s definitely a possible thing to do.

I was gona say check ur axles but if ur stock goto napa or something like that they have warranty as for inserts there like 30 bux try em out if not they have a filler that u put in with the broken mounts and makes them solid idk wat its called ive seen it done heard good things about it

Also.back mount if not in correctly u will have problems i snapped like 6 axles before i figured out it was my rear mount.
