I have a ViS hood, and like it fairly well. Mine lasted about 3 years before it started to oxidize. It needs to be repaired in the near future, badly.
To be fair, however, it is a pretty light hood. But of the ONE Fiber Images hood I have encountered, I will admit that there is a substantial difference in weight. The FI hood is at least 3-4lbs lighter.
I’m going to have my hood repaired in the near future, as I don’t really have the means to fix it myself, so if I have to pay a shop a few bucks to do it right, then so be it. I’d rather pay them to do it right, than for me to attempt, and make the situation worse. If I had the tools to do it, I could handle the job, but I don’t.
