VTEC pistons in LS...

Do VTEC pistons fit on the LS rods? I want to up the CR a bit in my LS, but don’t want to spend a fortune on forged pistons

Thanks!

yes they do the b16 pistons fit right on the rods with no milling needed but the type r pistons will work if u have your rods milled. so the best bet is to use b16 pistons on your ls rods.

rule of thumb:
any b18c or b16b pistons will require that you shave your rods. all other b series pistons will fit just fine.

use: http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/compcalc/compcalc.html to calculate compression ratios of different pistons

for your LS i would recommend the P30’s or the pr3’s

You will need to shave one mm from each end of thw wristpin hole sides. The vtec rods are 18 mm wide and the LS/CRV are 20 mm wide.

how come you and gen2ls/vtec say to shave the pistons and everyone else i’ve ever talked to has always said its the rods that should be shaved? any specific reason why you guys choose to shave the pistons instead of the rods?

No. I meant the rods have to have to be shaved at the wrist pins hole end.

Sorry for the confusion.

yeah that was more than likely me that got that confused sorry about that

Awesome. Thanks for the input guys
