Ok, just got done with my LS/Vtec build, ~12:1 Comp, balanced, Decked, Milled runs like a champ… I also have an OBD0-OBD1 Conversion… now in this process i baught an OBD1 (obviously) P28 ecu… the bastard sold me an automatic ECU. So in turn the only check code I am getting is the shift lock silenioid (code 19) other than that no codes and everything on the motor is wired and plumbed right.
Would anyone know if this code is what is preventing me from tickling vtec? if so is there anyway i can bypass it or trick the ECU with some resistors?
i had a auto p28 ecu for my ls/vtec build also. i sent it out to phearable.net and they did the manual conversion, removed speed governor and knock sensor, new redline, and base map with chrome for $75. once i had it wired up, works like a champ
well, i have sucessfully converted my p06 ECU to a manual and chipped it. i can burn and tune through crome i just would like to get it running today, i already ordered the ZIF sockets and chips for the conversion. I also just ordered the hardware i need to turn my P75 to a Vtec emulating ECU… i would just imagine that i would be able to trick the ECU with some sort of resistor to make it think that the silenoid is working properly… so if there is some way to half ass it untill next week that would be super because i am supposed to go show my buddy’s boosted D-series who is boss this weekend… I just fear that i can’t get it to hit vtec before then…
but if i don’t get it running right i guess i can make him wait another week…
Once again thanks for the help everyone!
Yes, love PGMFI… it has been having some problems though because it has been down or something…
But dammit i converted the ECU to a manual (cut a resistor in the ECU) i have no check engine codes and i still do not hit vtec on my p28… i double checked wiring, the silenoid seems to be fine, i had my friend plug my silenoid into his car and take it for a drive… it worked fine for him… i just don’t get it…
Was your oil level okay? I know VTEC won’t engage if that is bad. But it probably was fine so hmmm. I’m guessing it’s still something with the ECU. If you’re wiring was messed up you SHOULD have a check engine light. I know when one of my VTEC wires got messed up I had a CEL on constant until I fixed it. I had to do a better saudering job than the last guy lol because his didn’t hold up. That is weird though, no CEL but VTEC won’t engage… check the oil who knows :S
