First off, i f@cking hate emissions testing. I wish i lived in the country or elsewhere where there dont test.
My motor is pretty much stock with short ram intake, Weapon R Secret Air Filter, 2.25" catback exhaust and everything else is stock. Ignition timing advanced to about 17 degrees BTDC. Here are the results:
For my re-test, i swapped out the short ram intake for a cold air intake, and retarded the timing back to 16 degrees BTDC. To my surprise, my results were worst than the first time! Heres the re-test:
The stupid cruise part of the test, doesnt even exhibit a real cruise. All they do for the cruise part of the test, is they have your rev the motor to 2500rpms and hold it there. Therefore, the engine is not getting force fed the oxygen it needs. On a actual cruise, your motor is getting fed the oxygen it needs to run efficiently. I tried explaining this to the tech but he wasnt trying to hear what i had to say.
What else can i try to pass this stupid test? I only fail cruise on CO%. I dont know what else to try and G2ic always has the answers. So please guys, help me out!
had similiar problems.what i did was say i live on vashon island.vashon island require emissions.didnt even have to show proof of address.and i even had my mailing address changed to my current in lakewood.
I think that might actually help. I swear, if only they put a fan in front of my intake, i would pass! The way i see it, my car is giving off too much CO% (carbon monoxide) at cruise because its not getting enough air (oxygen) cuz all im doing is sitting there and revving vs actually moving and getting the forced air
Yeah, im pretty sure mine is defective. I was rockin a resonated test pipe but put my original cat back on but it sounded like a digery dune/salt shaker when you shook it around. But a tuner should be able to make a map specifically to pass emissions
Easy, go to DOL and let them know you just moved to Vashon or w/e place that doesn’t require emissions and you’re set. They usually don’tneed proff but it depends, I just gave them my friends address in Granite Falls haha
Yeah, hopefully it works. Im gonna go down to the DMV and switch the title. Its been under my girls name but now im gonna put it under mine and tell them i recently moved to Vashon Island. Hopefully it works and they dont ask for proof of residence!
AWESOME!! Worked like a charm! One question though, what happens when you get pulled over the the cop asks you what your doing in this area? Since NOW you live somewhere far away?

The cop asking why your here shouldnt worry you.theres nothing he could do about it.just say your gf lives over here.or you work here.only bad thing i could see about it being registered far away is,if a cop gets behind you runs yourt plates and thinks your car is stolen cause its so far from home.Really though shouldnt be a problem.
Yeah, shouldnt be a problem but just thought i should ask. My girl said she would just say the truth, that she registered it out of the area cuz it couldnt pass emissions. Lol. But im GLAD i dont have to take emissions ever again! Score!!
