So I wake up at 7 am to get up and get ready for work this morning. I’m about to hop in the shower and my gf and son call out my name. Then they’re like someones stealing your car! So I immediately hop in my 95 civic and peel out hoping to be able to chase the mfr down… after 15 minutes of breakig every speed law known to man, I give up and return home… I’m about to get out when all of a sudden I hear it drive by! (My car has a very distinct sound due to all of the mods I’ve made to it recently,which includes a high flow cat so the exhaust is extremely loud upon hard acceleration, and even more so once the VTEC engages…hehe.) So I peel out again and start driving back up the block and sure enough there it is! So I immediately block the road with my civic, and the bastard is nowhere in sight… I ended up calling the cops and they brought a team out to dust for prints, and what not, but the dude was wearing gloves… After all of that was said and done, I get in my baby, to head home, and I start driving, then CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK…The idiot ended up busting the axles from driving too hard on it over the speed bumps in my town home complex so I guess he gave up on it and abandoned it… also after getting her home and washing her, I discovered that the wannabe thief also took my wheel keys, but for some reason he couldn’t get the last ones off to take my rims… (i use 3 sets of all different wheel locks…) anyway I now don’t have the wheel keys and also i need some new axles…
Atleast you got her back! Sorry to hear about the damage done. Someone was telling me that there is a honda/acura junkyard if your wanting to go that route. It’s off of hwy 2 heading towards Monroe. It’s in Snohomish. I have to go there to see about getting some parts for my DA myself.
Yeah, except he knows where i live, and once i get my car back its gonna be a target again… anyone know of some good locking lug nuts for aftermarket rims?
Wow. That really sucks. There are some kids in my neighborhood who keep getting into our cars and stealing stupid crap. I know how frustrating it can be. I learned recently that they grabbed some wheels out of my back yard, too. After it happens, I become obsessed with catching them and can’t think about anything else. To me, that is the most frustrating part (that I can’t seem to let it go). Well, except for the fact that they stole the wheel-lock keys for my car and it was a pain getting the lugs off to replace them…until I realized a 19mm socket hammered onto those particular ones gets them off easy as cake.
I would suggest a kill switch too but, if you want to really fuck with the guy and possibly catch him (like I would) then I would say wire up the kill switch to the main relay or directly to the fuel pump. Then, you’ll hear the car trying to start, but it won’t start…and you can go out there and taze his ass. Something as simple as this would work for the kill switch.
The nice thing about just doing the main relay is the switch doesn’t have to be high current and it won’t reset your clock, radio and ECU every night.
Aiight car is back from shop, wired up some special goodies to throw his bitch ass off… Pretty clever job my mechanic did. Axles we not broken, but two rims are bent, got 3 separate sets of wheel locks and keys, also car requires two keys to start and a series of button presses… Also got an autolock for the clutch pedal… so technically it requires 3 keys to drive… Hooked up my alarm today, as well… also working on getting a simple 2-way paging system… where can i find such device?
dont worry bout him lol you have a amazing story, so he does too. Most car theives at that level (rims, body parts, stuff that is a couple bolts. I know click up and trade between themselves and have close buddys that buy from them or end up selling to someone they know. You put up alot of traps but last thing you havent said is how you park your car. Professionals are fast for a reason and that is they just tow your shit away and is sooo big underground everywhere that you can find the right tow trunk driver out there to yank something. its fucked up to think that a theive can have your baby in his possesion in min. for 200 to 300 hundred bucks and what is fucked up i bet dude didnt even know your car was hooked up. If i was you i would block it in when being parked (all tow trunk drivers know that pulling a car away to take the other 1 will for sure get attention and thats the last thing they want) and dont go around beatin your music cause then you be asking for 3 different type of car theives and those are really bad odds. well. i dunno if he caught yet but my car’s been doing fine. kinda hard getting used to autolocking that clutch pedal every time i park it for the night. Car is right out front of my place, definitely within view. alarm works, kill switches and toggles work, haven’t hooked up another stereo since the incident, but am leaning toward doing so. i got an urge to listen to some dnb while i drive…
I’m lucky enough to have a garage, but I think I will be investing in a kill switch anyway. Shit like this scares me, especially as my baby is also my daily and my only driver ATM.
Sorry to hear the fucker didn’t get caught. I had a friend with a legit ITR that got stolen and stripped, never did get the thieves. Had another friend with a 10 second EG that was stolen in broad daylight and stripped in 2 hours flat. He lost over 16,000 dollars in one afternoon.
Moral is protect your shit. I have good neighbors who’d call the cops if someone came and tried to take my car if it sits in the driveway, but we aren’t all that lucky, and I won’t be when I get a place of my own.
