wait, my car, what the fu???

i just got my aem cold air intake and my dc 4-2-1 header put on yesterday and the car runs sweet, i mean it just feels like it just wants to keep going.Well now i look on my dash and my engine light is on.I changed the o2 sensor as well with the header.I am at work right now and when i’m done i will check the computer for codes but does anyone know why the engine light is on now and was never on before.Do i just need to reset the computer or is something wrong now.It drives better now but why the light.I did do a search but am wondering if anyone knows off hand why the light is on and will resetting the computer fix the problem.any help is appreciated and thanks in advance

when I put on my intake…I believe my check engine light came on…as soon as it did…I pulled into my cousin’s driveway again…and reset the ECU…and have never had the light come on again

Is the new O2 senser a direct fit or Universal? If it’s universal, make sure you solder the two wires together. Crimping the two wires together with the little connector isn’t enough. I’m positive it’s your sensor and not, your intake. HTH

well i bought the header from a freind and it had a brand new,3 week old, o2 sensor in it already(from the acura factory). It’s funny because it only comes on when i go into fourth or gear down(although i’m sure it would probably still come on regardless).Should i just reset the computer and see what happens?

you can try that, but also make sure the o2 connection is good.

o.k i checked the computer for codes and when i look at the led on the computer it blinked once then 4 seconds later it blinked once again. So does that mean its code 1.Now how do i make sure my o2 connection is good? Is this a bad thing, does this mean that my o2 sensor is not working?Do i go to a mechanic to check the o2 connection. Can someone please tell me what to do? thanks in advance

Check the plug on the end of the wire to make sure they are connected. Make sure the wire is not frayed, cut or melted. Reset your ECU after you have check it and if it comes on again just switch it out with your old one.

Did you reset the ecu when you installed the intake and header? If not you should do this now.

so i checked the connection going to the o2 sensor and it looks like they connected 5 feet of wire to the wier on the o2 sensor and ran it to where the plug is.They just tagled the wire together(you know just like how you connect speaker wire) and taped it up.Is this o.k.Can someone tell me what this is doing to my engine, is the o2 sensor not working. What happens when the o2 sensor doesn’t work?

what should i do next

i would take the tape off, or whatever is covering the wire. then I would take the splice apart. make sure that everything is clean or just cut the wire, strip both new ends then sodder it. Cover it with electrical tape or the little covers that come with the o2 sensors, I think you can pick them up at a car parts store. And you should be good to go. I wouldn’t trust a twist and tape, especially when it comes to an 02 sensor. maybe with a stero, but that’s about it hth
