So i just got a new da its a 92 just the ls and im looking to do a swap, I want to do a obd0 b16 longblock from password. Now my questions are is it possable to use my tranny and axels, im pretty sure i can bseries to bseries, if i can use the tranny what clutch do i use. do i go by the ls tranny or b16 motor or does it matter. Mounts do i just use stock mounts?, If the longblock comes with out an ecu can i chip mine? And are there anyother problems im looking at any help would be awesome. Thanks
yes you can do that. just get a p28 ecu and the long block it’ll be fine. thats what im going to do as well.
Since your DA is a 92 it runs OBD1 which isn’t compatible with an OBD0 engine unless u get a conversion harness, and it really doesn’t make much since to go back. Why not just pay the extra $300 and get the OBD1 B16a which has 10 more HP and either pay $200 more for the P30 ECU or just get your stock ECU chipped. Also unless the tranny you have right now is short geared there’s really no point in having a Vtec engine with a long geared tranny. You’ll be able to rip through 1st and 2nd, but once you get into 3rd it’ll feel like your towing a boat going uphill. The full potential of the engine will be very limited. The type of clutch to use is determined by the tranny and what year and model of car it’s from.
Next time try to research more before you post using the :search: feature. I know the questions you’re asking have been answered countless of times. I lurked on the forums for about 9 months before I made my first post so that I wouldn’t get flammed every time I made a post (G2IC isn’t too bad about that though, unlike H-T). Also there’s a topic in the Teg Tips that gives you all the details you need on the different types of swaps commonly done in our DA’s.
