Those black rubber flaps at the bottom of the side windows that keep water out of the doors are warped. They were like that when i got the teg. I am afraid this will rust the inside of the doors even though I know that the water drips out through a hole at the bottom. Lots of water gets in and its going to rain soon. Can anybody tell me how to fix them, or do I have to go get new ones? Thanx
The trim panels only keep a small amount of water from dripping into the doors. There is a weather proofing type coating sprayed inside the doors to kep them from rusting. You shouldn’t stress about it, If it bothers you, replace them. You have to remove the mirrors to get to the screw in the front. There is a screw in the rear under the rubber piece at the rear top of the door. The rest of it is held on by clips.
Hey 2ndJenn, do you know anything about that big black tirim panel at the bottom of the windsheild? That thing is a lil more warped and when I wash the car water just drains into that, and I know that the lil rubber flap is supposed to stop water from doing that. I am afraid of leaks in my dash. Can you help me out on this too?
there are chanels that the water goes into and drain out in the cornors and behind the fenders. I posted a tegtip to fix the passangers side water leak under the blower motor box (wet carpet). The seals are not there to keep the water out. The only way to keep water out is to use silicone or polyurithane or plastic seals with pressure on them. Our cars are magnets for water leaks. I know about almost all of them because of the South Florida rainy season and being an original owner.
check out the teg tips, there is a solution.
“Symptoms: Not closing flush with car, painful rattling when closing door or when bumping music, sagging door, windows not sealing completely.”
if this explains the problems you are having- there is a solution for it in teg tips under the interior section
