water in cai

i just wanted to share this becouse ive read alot of posts referring to sucking in water withg a

cai. hydrolocking or whatever ruining engine by getting water up in a cai.

_____ i used to like to hit alot of puddles when it was raining or flooding. so i had just put on my

cai.and it was one of the autozone 35 dollar cone filters. on a cheaper cai tube that goes past

the battery . down the resonator hole and behind the bumper, in that area. also i also had a big

hole in the mud guard.

_____well i saw this puddle didnt really try to hit that one but noticed it and a big truck was

beside me and i couldnt even try to miss it if i wanted, i didnt care and also didnt even think

about the filter that was low by the ground, also my car is lowered like 3 inches. and so i drove

thru it.

_____oh well.

_____ WELLL like a block or two later my car started to kinda sputter and run like crap, and a

couple more blocks later before i could pull over it started to try to shut off and i was like …

FUCK. ended up dyin on me at an intersection , right down the street from the police

department, again i was like FUCKKK. had to push it out of the intesection and accross the

street. and couldnt get it to start.

_____So i started to check around under the hood and figure out what the prob was. after not

finding shit for a few minutes and no luck getting it to start again , i thought oh, maybe i sucked

water up my intake. fuuuck. so i looked at the intake and it was MOIST. DANG, so i took it off

andd checked it out , it was soaked. i thought my engine was messed up, done for.

_____Then i looked up in the pipe . and i found that the inside of the cai tube was completly

dry still. so i turned the car over again and after like 3 or 4 turns over. it started right up

fine. so i drove it home a couple miles, cleaned the filter dried it and put it back on and all

was good. no problems since.

_____sorry for the long ass story but i wanted to be detailed cause i read people talkin bout

suckin water up the tube so many times that i had to share the info. i didnt really get a drop

of water in the intake tube. once the water got on the filter it basicly clogged the filter so no air

could come in and the car shut off.

_____Just avoid puddles and it wont be a problem with cai. the puddle i hit was like 4 or five

inches deep on that side of the car and i hit it goin pretty quick, so a big splash. filter.

_________wett

i tried reading this and couldnt.

your wall of text is difficult read. can you add spaces please?

again sorry for the long ass story, but if it hadnt happened to me yet i would have really learned

somthing from that about suckin water in the cai, hydrolocking and fuckin up my engine from

hitting a big puddle with a lowered car and a cai …One time i hit a MONSTER puddle and right as i

hit it i noticed this lady and a couple kids on the sidewalk walking right there beside it. i was so

excited to smash the fuck up out of that puddle i didnt see them in time, could not avoid it .

oops. and i sent a freakin tsunami smashin them, completly drenched them like a mad waterfall

from heaven. it was too late . i didnt see them in time to not hit it. i was focused on dryin up

that puddle. just had to share that 1, i loved hittin puddles. b4 cai. and yes, i was smoked the

fuck out

lol not exactly what i meant.

see. if you put spaces…

it makes things easier to separate and read…

and you did it again with the post above me…

sorry, im not to good at typin on the computer. im tryin to figure it out tho!:hyper:. in the first

post i went back and edited it to try to put spaces and make it look like separate paragraphs n

shit. it looked ok then i thought till i accually posted it. but then it just looked the same but

more fucked up.

_____ So, then i put periods with a couple spaces after them to try to help, that wasnt right

either and looked even worse. So then i pushed enter under each line to spread them out. but ,

idk im not computer literate i guess.

i guess i cant type right. but im tryin to help, and please dont get on my shit about punctuation or

spelling. im just tryin to make it at least half readable! just half

Just wondering…how old are you?

he must be stoned :hmm:

I cant read anything my eyes hurt. But i think you like puddles , you have a DA , and you have a cold air intake. Oh and you cant type for nothing, I covered it all right? I think your wondering if there is a way to prevent water from going into your intake. And the solution is a AEM bypass filter.

I think lol, my head hurts still and i could be completely wrong about the whole thing, except fpr the puddles.

—I jumped off the JDM bandwagon. Now i walk my own way—

Well, the info i wrote i could read and understand ,and could figure out how to read and understand it very easily if it was written by some1 else. I just tried to let all know my experiance with cold air intake and water consumption. Also i do love puddles, am probably older than most who will read this, and yeah very stoned back then.:stfu: I admit i wrote to much to try to explain to others , but will keep any info that i learn that might help g2ic members to myself from now on. ban me

Haha yeah that would explain all the fun with the puddles.

^his CAI was trying to do bong hits off of the puddle.

to be honest bro, i dont think youre going to find anything new in a forum of owners of 20 year old cars.

i wasnt lookin for info, i was letting cai users know that it wont hurt ur engine if

u have alot of water splashed near your filter with a low hanging( in the side of

bumper area)cold air intake systems. it will clog the filter tho and shut off till its unclogged ,

unless u r running no filter with the tube down there still. so no need for the bypass filters. just

giving info becouse ive

read qustions about it in alot of other threads , i screwed up and wrote to

much other stuff that some people cant read. Also why is thead a forum for 20

year old cars , if people arent gonna put new info in them 20 years later. i

guess some of u cant read. so if i was gonna try to help again i guess id just

post pictures. and probably on some other site wheres theres more new info

on theses 20 year old cars.

aslong as you have the splash guard under the bumper and around the wheel well still installed a CAI shouldnt be a problem… my car has had a CAI for over 3 years through rain & snow (canada) and never had a problem… besides the filter getting mad dirty…

LOL! he was trying to get some milky hits!
