water in hatch on both sides

Ok so when I first got the car almost a year ago I replaced both tail light gaskets with oem and thought I took care of this problem, but lately when it rains hard I’m getting water in both corners in the hatch under the interior panel. I’ve also checked the drain tube on the right side, it is plugged in and I even taped it so it won’t come off! Can anyone chime in what might be causing this leak?

sit in the trunk with the panels off and have someone spray water on the car and look for it

the water that you notice in the rear, is it when it has been sitting, or when you have been driving?

it your car has been sitting, then you have water coming in from some of the channels or tail light gaskets (even though you replaced them). I agree with DA_all_day, pull the panels off and have somebody spray water on the car. If that doesn’t work, have somebody spray water below the underside of the trunk.

good luck.

I had this same issue awhile back. Turns out it was the sunroof drain lines being half-assedly attached to the lower section of the body. I took a ziptie and made sure the hose was tight in the overboard drains and haven’t had an issue since.

did you check the one on the left?

There is one on the left side? I’ve never seen it before.

there are two… you ever take off your headliner…

It’s kind of hidden by the power antenna motor so maybe that’s why you never noticed it.

Remove both rear panels get a wire and run it through the drain holes
go under the car and find the hole the wire is coming from
Get some pliers and rip open the rubber piece
it might have gotten shribbled over time
happened to me
hope this helps
