i had my JDM headlights for a while now. they never use to leack. but recently i took them out to install the other bumper and it started to leack. only the right one. how can i fix it? shud i open it up and reseal it with silicone? the owen method? or any other suggestions?
thnx
wow…i have the exact same problem and i did the very same thing…anyone got a clue?
so wut did u do man? did u fix ur leak, or u just left it?
nah it still has some condensation
did u actually open them up? or no?
i am thinkin abt it. but i dunno if its worth it. maybe i shud just wait till it dries. and then put more silicone around…
best thing you could do is wait for a nice dry hot day with verry little humididy and unplug the bulbs leaving an area for the water to get out of! EBst would be removing em and letting sit outside so they can get nice and dry then reinstalling them after and using silicon to keep em dry!
Groove,
Check the Teg Tips for my removal of JDM yellow fog lense which should give you a rough idea on how to disassemble the housing from the main lense. The idea is taking it slow. Don’t rush into things. I would also suggest looking for any pinholes where you think condensation may go through. Is the main headlight bulb housing sealed properly with the rubber grommet? What about the fog light bulb panel?

I had the same exact problem, I opened it up with a heat gun and two small flat head screwdrivers, I scraped all the old glue from the factory and re-seald it with a Glue/sealant I got from Lowe’s, I just let it sit for a day clamped and Put it back in the car and haven’t had a problem since then, We’ve got a lot of rain since and no water in there at all, it’s been about 6 months.
