hi guys,
in the past, i’ve been hand polish/wax-ing my car but i just got myself a cheap kmart no-name orbital and was wondering if anyone can give me tips on how to use it effectively? what kind of bonnets should i use at each step of the way? what steps r involved after i wash the car? thanks!
just keep the buffer moving abd BE CARFUL to not keep it in one area for too long.
vtecteg, thanks for the tip. how do u go about using it tho? i mean, do u use the buffer to spread the polish, or to remove it, etc … to put it simply, i’d like a step by step process on how to use the buffer. sounds silly i know, but i’ve nv seen it in action b4 …
this is what i like to do:
- apply liquid was of choice by hand, with foam sponge applicator
- buff off with terry cloth bonnet
- wipe off excess with terry cloth
or you can. apply and buff off with the buffer.
- apply liquid wax with foam bonnet
- buff off with terry cloth bonnet.
- wipe off any excess with terry cloth
remember use only the least amount possible to coat the car, more is not better when it comes to waxing. it only makes it harder on yourself at the end trying to remove clumps of wax.
the reason i like to apply with hand is so i can get every corner of the car. another thing is with these low RPM orbitals you do not have to worry about burning the paint, so you can keep it at one spot, but there is no reason to.
Ohh by the way, i highly recommend using mothers clay bar, then buff the car.
