Looks great!

Well…I think I just figured out what is causing the noise when I turn. The tire is rubbing against the UCA I think. Time for a camber kit I guess?

The hood bra looks good.

I think so. I think anyone that lowers their cars should buy a camber kit anyhow! I think the suspension is one thing worth forking out a lot of cash for and not cutting any corners. Just the saving on tires alone would be worth it. I need to practice what I preach though - LOL. Lets just say I like to learn the hard way!

I was hoping to be largely done pouring money into the suspension. I dropped nearly $1100 on the Koni/GCs alone! Camber kit and some beefy sway bars would be nice.

On a side note…

I just returned from inspecting the suspension and my problem is that the drivers side UCA is hitting the shock tower. I’m debating whether to grind a bit off the UCA or just take a hammer to the underneath of the shock tower. :hmm:

Yeah, suspension -if you want it done right- is rarely cheap! I’ve heard stories about getting things done cheap, but like I said, its the one thing I splurge on when it comes to cars! (If I actually have the money). LOL. I don’t know much about your problem, but I do know that grinding things seem to work just fine as I do have experiences with fixing things that way. Of course given that you know what you’re grinding at, and what the consequences could be. You don’t sound like the wreckless type, so I’m sure you know what you’re doing. Sounds like a good alternative if you don’t have the money sitting around for a camber kit.

How does the driver side uca hit but not the passenger side? Is something bent on your suspension?

I decided against grinding. I hammered it out a little bit though. It made a bit of difference but still will thump a little if I take a quick right turn.

Herb, everything seems good and straight except for the sway bar end links. The drivers side bushings are totally jacked so I’ll be replacing them on both sides today. At least that should get rid of one clunking noise maybe both.

I see you’re going to pick up the Koni/GCs. Good choice bud. :sipread:

Bra looks awesome man! I need to put mine on soon

Thanks dude.

Replaced the shot end links today. It helped a bit but it will still make the thumping noise/vibration. I even stiffened up the dampers to near full firmness but still…

It really isn’t that big of a deal but little things like this aggravate and pick at me until I go crazy. I’m thinking about just taking it out and disassembling, then reassembling everything and then putting it all back in to see if that makes a difference. Perhaps something isn’t torqued correctly or maybe something isn’t lined up perfectly, etc.

Perhaps I’ll look into these tomorrow. :surrend:

I don’t blame you man. That little stuff drives me crazy too. Especially when you spend that much money on the parts, and put so much time into your car. If you expect perfection, then make it happen! Good luck and keep us updated.

Update: I removed and then replaced the dampers. Still does it. Put it on an alignment rack with the front wheels in the air, driving while turning both ways while others listened for any strange noises/vibrations. Nothing.

I also checked the UCA with the drivers side under full load and it isn’t even close to hitting the shock tower.

Both boots on the cv joints look fine. I replaced the drivers side axle a few years ago from AutoZone (lifetime). I’m thinking about just taking it back and exchanging it just so I can eliminate that as the cause altogether.

I’m out of ideas and patience. FML

I just got off the phone with AutoZone and they have no record of my ever purchasing a driveaxle. Goddammit.

Picked up a new drivers side axle today. Put it on, still does it. Thinking maybe it was the tires I swapped them. Still. I even switched the shock assemblies from left to right. Yup, still does it.

I hate this car so fucking much.

Damn dude. I don’t know enough about cars to help you out with the noise, but I’m sure someone in this forum has had the same problem. Have you searched the forum or posted a new thread? Get that shit fixed, I hate seeing you say you hate your car! I still like it, lol. It does suck that you’re doing all this work and its still not fixed though, trust me… I think we all know the feeling. Sorry I can’t help, all I can do is tell you to keep your head up. lol.

Blake

I thought I’d check to see if the nuts for the upper control arm were tight. I started tightening one and kept tightening and then it snapped. Not going to be able to drive it until thats fixed, oh and did I mention this is my daily? Fuck my life.

All of the searching I’ve done hasn’t given me any real insight into the problem. I have been able to eliminate what it is not by trial and error but I’ve yet to pinpoint the cause itself. I’m going to pick up an upper control arm tonight and work on it tomorrow. Thumping noise is better than not being able to drive it. I’m running out of time and ideas.

Do you have a camber kit? I don’t remember if you do.

Nope.
