weight differences

o.k. on the specs section of this forum it states a 90 - 91 3 door ls weighs ALMOST 100LBS LESS THAN THE 92 - 93 VERSION. where is the difference? does anyone have different numbers that are credible?

they might be talking about the rs, rs dont have a sunroof so that might be a part of it.

hey

it weighs more when it has a sunroof doesnt it??

among other things. what i would like to know is if a 91 LS weighs the same as a 92 LS and if not, why?

bump

i would like to know this as well. ive searched other web sites and found the same thing but no explanation as to why.

^^^^bored???

some RS if not optionally installed from dealer back in those days

Power windows, more wirings buttons, sunroof, bumper shape and size single or dual tip exhaust and or no a/c as to some rs comes this way so it can be alot of things added up to be that weight lost?.. I have a 1991 RS my car on the door panel sticker reads 3635lbs 1960 front/1740 rear US Model.

Can someone explain this to me

I do not know how this is being weighted weather with gas in car or even oil or any type of fuild? maybe they had the car put on and measure it without idk

(Add up rear and front weight)

compare the exact same trim level, different years, with the same amount of gas in the tank. 90 Rs compared to a 92 Rs or 90 Ls to 92 Ls or 90 Gs to 92 Gs. doesnt matter the only differences i thought of were the front bumper (can this actually weigh 100 pounds more?) and whatever was done to the motor to get the extra 10hp in the newer models (92-93). other than these things i really dont see where 100 pounds was added to the different years.

The front bumper and cover together weighs way less than 100 lbs so theres no way there can be a 100 lb difference there. Also the extra 10 hp is added via the ecu and the stock maps. Nothing heavy was bolted on. The only thing i can see making such a weight difference is the difference between the trim levels, not the years.

which is what i thought but why is it everywhere i find the different years listed there is a 100lb difference in the car?

If the car does not have an AC compressor, that can cut the weight by ~10lbs by itself.

is our car really 2600lbs or 3600 lbs? I am lost too now… always hear people gutting the car to 2400 down to 2200 max etc please explain thank you very much…

Same thing with the gas mileages stated 24/28 but i know most of us are seeing 28 city and 32 freeway at least the info i seen around states that.

I know i get a lil better then 33mpg though becoz on my 96 GS-R i get less 25/30 and all i have is i/h/Stock Exhaust piping of course

Can’t be 3600… my TSX weighs 3100ish and there’s no way the DA is anywhere near that heavy.

I don’t believe DA to be 3600 but why just why are info all over like this plus the image i post up is from a Honda/Acura dealer manual also. on top of that whatever that is stamped on my door side panel stated that 3635lbs 1960 front/1740 rear US Model why…

All i’m going to believe i guess is what i have read about around here and everywhere on HT and nonvtec.com plus i should go get my car weight at the shop.
thanks to anyone if u respond to this :stuck_out_tongue:

Gross Vehicle Weight rating is NOT your cars total weight.

Its “maximum allowable total weight of a road vehicle that is loaded to capacity, including the weight of the vehicle itself plus fuel, passengers, cargo, and other miscellaneous items such as extra aftermarket parts.”

So, the 3600+ lbs is the weight rating of your car completely maxed out, not what it weighs sitting empty or with you in it, (unless you weigh 1000 lbs.)

To get your car weighed cheaply, goto just about any junkyard, and use their scales. Most will let you do it for free, or if you pass them a couple bucks.

Not sure how much a shop would charge you to weigh your car.

Thank you!

so i guess this is one of those mysteries that have not been solved?
