if lightness is one of your priorities, you should start looking for an RS.
i agree deff look for an rs, also drop out the rear wiper, take seats out , any kind of extra interior.
i have a rs:)
agreed my RS, according to the title, weighs 2450 without me. from my experience with my last car you caould start with all the carpeting, seats and plastics inside the car, including the dash and headliner. you can keep the cluster and radio just have to figure a way to mount them or keep them sturdy. if you dont have a n RS then you can go about finding and removing all wiring thats not needed to run the car. then there are the foam and metal bumper supports, of course have to sturdy the corners of the bumpers. can cut out the rear spare tire well. i have a bunch of pictures in my photobucket if you are interested. my last car was a 2004 pontiac sunfire that was pretty loaded, weighed 3020 with me as it came from the factory. when i was done it was only 2340 and still “safe” on the road lol
I have stripped out all of my interior pieces except for the dash and door panels. Also the A/C and power steering components are all gone. If your car is a DD i would not recomend this at all. Believe me i commute 70miles a day. And i can tell you it was cool about the first 10min. Now it’s just annoying, but hey im building a DD/Track car so there must be sacrafices.
you basically have to make your rs look like my old project track whore, heck I used to beat 3gen h22 preludes with it. and she was an RS also, I took out the carpet, rear wiper motor and wiper, you can go to homedepot to the fauset/sink section and get a fauset delete cap for $3 and bolt in on to plug up the hole left by your rear wiper.
The only thing i didnt take out was door panels and heater core. If you removed the A/C then make sure you take out the a/c condensore and hard lines. Also look for a half civic dual core rad to replace your full size rad… And the motorized seat belts have to come out.
I wish I would of kept her. now im on a new project and its not going anywhere…
