Race but id rather leave the windows in at this point. Oh well i guess only the speakers are coming out.
its still got speakers?
that was the first thing i removed when i bought the car.
btw, the radio’s wiring harnesses and power antennae weigh more than you would believe.
lol yeah they where still in there…i had everything out including the antenna, finally had time to get the front speakers out today.
Im sure there’s a whole bunch of weight to be saved simplifying the wiring harness. Im barely using any of it, unfortunately i have no idea what im doing in that area so im waiting on a friend to help me out. I had the main chassis harness out a while back and weighed it. 25ish pounds (GS with abs) including the fuse boxes.

stripping a wiring harness is WAY easier than something like a wire-tuck.
once you have the whole thing de-loomed, youll see how logical honda ran OEM wiring (except for the grounds, theyre everywhere).
also, ever since i simplified my chassis harness, my battery doesnt die, the tail lights dont blow out every week and the 12v cigarette socket works after never working before.
if youre having any sort of chassis electrical gremlins, i suggest you grab your FSM and get to labeling, once you see the tangled mess of left over garbage, youll feel so accomplished. simplifying my harnesses was the best thing i did for the reliability of the car.
want a weight reduction go buy an EF lightest fastest chassis out there
With that logic you should just go buy a go kart… The point of this topic isn’t how to get the lightest vehicle possible, it’s how to make a DA lighter.
Anyone stuck with a GS might be interested to know the sunroof assembly weighs in at 35 pounds and the glass alone is 12 pounds. I made my own fiberglass plug using the glass as a mold. It weighs about 2 pounds hardware included.
And cutting the frame out from the underside of your hood is a lot less expensive than a carbon peice. Plus it could weigh less than a carbon hood if you do it right.

Yeah, I weighed my sunroof assembly and got 35lbs as well. Plus that’s the worst place possible for that much weight.
Had my car put on corner weight scales since someone at the racetrack had a set. With the mildly gutted interior, other general weight reduction items, and an autopower race roll bar the car weighed in at 2360lbs. A number I was pretty happy with, there’s not a significant amount of more weight I can get rid of w/o compromising safety or making the car significantly less practical (imo).
Here’s the corner weight information:
Obviously there’s a huge front bias, but considering I setup all the corner heights as a guess and based on suspension travel I’m pretty happy with the numbers. Doesn’t look like it’d take much to get the cross weights balanced.
maybe the first step in weight reduction of your car should be weight reduction of the driver.
not saying that anyone of you are over weight. just saying ive seen some 250lb + guys over obsessed with weight reduction.
just think, if the 1lb unsprung is <=> 10lb sprung, a 15 lb weight loss in the driver would be >= 150lbs.

You’re right that us fatties should look at ourselves if we’re haggling over ounces on the car. I’m actually looking to lose some weight but my reasoning isn’t Motorsports.
Driver weight is sprung weight, not unsprung - so 1lb = 1lb.
