WHEN I REV IT UP OR HOLD IT AT A HIGHER RPM THAN IDLE IT SLOWLY GOES BACK TO NORMAL. WHATS THE DEAL WITH THAT? I WOULD THINK THAT REVVING IT WOULD MAKE IT HOTTER. I HAVE ENOUGH COOLANT. KEEP IN MIND THIS DOESNT HAPPEN EVERYTIME I STOP BUT ITS BEEN HAPPENING MORE OFTEN RECENTLY. COULD I BE LOW ON OIL? CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT? THANKS IN ADVANCE.
doubt that its your oil…probably more likely your thermostat…that is if you are positive you have enough coolant…
check if your engine fan is working could be a bad fan relay.
i have the same problem, but mines gotten worse. the temp. jumps into the “red zone” even while i’m driving. it’ll go back down on its own, but WTF!! my fan is working, i know this because when i shut my car off it stays on for 10 minutes. my friend told me it was probably my thermostat. i’m gonna replace that and flush my coolant. the coolant could be a problem too.
USE THE SEARCH, WE HAVE DISCUSSED THIS AT LEAST 3 TIMES THIS MONTH!!!
same thing happened to me a while back, turned out to be the head gasket
My RS would overheat after I drove 50-75 miles nonstop. One reason could be cause it has 155,502 miles…It wouldn’t totally overheat, but you could see the temp guage wasn’t at the normal position. Believe it or not, I replaced my clutch and it has not overheated since. I think it was just a coincidence… I dunno. It might have been cause the clutch I had in it before was the one that came with the car and it was really hard on the engine cause it “was about 5 miles from going totally out” (Quoted from the person who replaced my clutch.) I have no clue. I don’t really care, but anyone have comments on this? LoL
