Weird High Pitched Scraping Sound when starting

This jsut started after I did an oil change and changed my front pads and rotors, which Im sure have nothing to do with it. Heres the problem, when I start my car it seems to take a slight moment longer to fire up, and when it does it makes a high pitched scraping or chafing sound from the front left side of my engine bay. It only sounds for about 3 seconds and definately is a moving part. Im thinking it probably has something to do with my starter. Anyways, anyone had a similar problem? Any guesses? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Michael

if you hear a loud zing this is probably what it is.

your starter gear is not engaing onto your flywheel to turn the motor. fix it soon or you will grind the teeth of the flywheel so your flywheel and starter will be screwed.

Well I believe the sound is more like a “wheep, pause, wheep, pause, wheep.”
I think I know the sound you are talking about though. thanks for the help though.
Any others thoughts?

It might also be your belts. take so windex and spray it on your belt pulley. but make sure to do it one at a time not all of them at once. the one that makes the noise when you spray windex on it is the belt you need to change or adjust the tension. good luck.
