ok, i did and search on the board and there doesn’t seem to be an answer, but recently, when my car is idling with or without AC on, it fluctuates. It gets to the point where it seems like it would die then comes back up to normal idle. A couple of times when Iwas stopped at a stop sign, the car died on me and i had to restart it. Then just today it when nuts and was hesitating then it die and had to restart. Anyone know whats wrong? Its fine when I’m driving but acts up at idle. I know its not the spark plugs or wires cause i check them and they were fine.
exact same problem here… but my car doesn’t stall…
I’d like to know a remedy please!
(I have a new rotor, cap and wires, i’ll be replacing the fuel filter and spark plugs asap)
glad not to be the only one with this problem! (well, you know what I mean! lol!)
is it idling up and down? have you tried adjusting the idle speed? maybe a vacuum leak?
more often than not its a vaccum leak somewhere
it isn’t really going up and down… it’s simply running rough and idling a little low sometimes and getting back at 750RPM shortly after…
Like this:
-idle smooth and nice
-RPMs dropping to ~600 and engine running rough
-5 to 10 seconds after RPM go back up to about 900 and then slowly back to 750. (when I say slowly it about a 1-2 seconds frametime)
-idle back nice and smooth for who knows how long!
okay. I see what you are saying. have you tried adjusting the idle speed? does the check engine light come on? maybe the timing is so badly retarded or jump a tooth on the timing belt? does the car have power or have a loss of power? hmmm…
