Weird noise after new clutch.

hey whats up guys… so i recently replaced a clutch on my boss 91 integra gs. bone stock… install went smoothly and car worked flawlessly after install. i get a call a few days later from him saying that the car is making a weird noise when he accelerates from a dead stop. i check out the car and its not anything that i have heard before. best way to describe it i suppose is like a someone taping on a window glass with car keys really fast… sound last for 3 seconds… then it goes away. it comes and goes… and never last more than 3 seconds… only does it on take off from a dead stop… i tried pressing the clutch and throwing it in neutral when i hear it but it has no effect at all… all gears feel smooth and tranny does not feel affected or any different from this. usually only does this in 1st gear… havent heard it in second. NEVER does it in reverse or in the highway. check the VSS tried running with out the vss connected and still does it. not too sure but it seems to be coming from engine bay… not sure. has anyone experienced anything close to this? please help… this is my boss car and i need to fix this lol

p.s a week before he brought the car to me he mentioned he accidently filled the tranny with SYNTETHIC GEAR oil… which is a big no no… i drained it all obviously and replaced it with honda MTF… can this have caused damage to the tranny and made this noise? but tranny does not seem to be affect and car shifts flawlessly… just thought i would add that… =( help

check the freeplay of the cluth pedal and adjust cable, if clutch fingers are touching throw-out bearing when engaged, it can make a clicking noise

wow that makes alot of sense =) thank you. but at the same time wouldnt it always make that noise if that were the problem?.. or wouldnt it have some type of affect when i would depress or press the clutch pedal?

good point, I’m not sure why it doesn’t, I know the throwout bearing is suposed to be 1/8 inch from the fingers when fully engaged, which is eqiv to 1in of pedal free play…for a cable trans. On hydro trannys the throwout bearing is spring loaded against the fingers. I just learned that stuff from tech school last lear.

well maybe this is a good thing because it means its not clutch or tranny related… so i wanted have to pull it down again. so its a fast clicking noise really weird… last no more than 3 seconds. and only does it when i take off from a dead stop on first gear
