lately my LS has developed a noise that i cannot for the life of me place
it happens randomly, everyother day at most it seems, although it has happend a couple times in one day once
it sounds like a small piece of metal hitting the ground and then bounceing back into the underbody of the car. but i know nothing is dropping because i’ve stopped and checked the entire area of where it happened and find absolutely nothing
only thing i’ve noticed so far that is a constant for the noise is it seems to only happen while applying the brakes… anyone have any ideas???
check all the bolts that hold the calipers on and allow it to slide in and out with the brake rotor. sometimes these bolts will wear and leave clearance which will allow the caliper to move back and forth slightly causing a clank sound when they contact the bolts under braking. this can also be caused by wear on the caliper itself in which case the caliper and the bolts need to be replaced.
also check if the brake pads have any play front to back. if they do, the pads may be moving back and forth in the caliper. you would get a clank or just a click sound caused by this also.
you need to just get under there and start pulling on everything having to do with suspension or brakes. mainly focus on front to back movement. and look for any cracked or saggy bushings that may be allowing movement under braking force.
also, you may want to think about where you got your brake parts you already replaced. autozone parts have caused this problem for me. you should never buy re-manufactured calipers, get new napa parts or dealership parts.

i dont buy remaned parts, and i have checked all the brake components, the noise isnt comeing from the brakes or the suspension
like i said the first thing i did was got under there and checked everything i could, and i still found nothing. otherwise i wouldnt have posted
How about the exhaust system? I have an intermittent metal on metal rattle from the pipe inside the exhaust pipe by the header. (the exterior heat shield has already been removed)
Just a suggestion.

just recently replaced that as well because the old exhaust was shitty and rusted, i double checked all the mounting points just in case as well as all the bolts to make sure everything was nice and tight

i was just giving you suggestions, you didn’t say how thorough you were and we have no way of knowing your car knowledge. alot of people would just look at these things and say they are fine. don’t get all pissy.
whos the one who felt they needed to post and whine?
all i said was i already checked it otherwise i wouldnt have posted
for the record i do all the work on any of my cars, and have for over 4 years, and my experiance ranges from oil changes to total engine rebuilds, turbo installs, motor swaps, wiring, etc

What? Didn’t sound like he was whining. And if you have “4 years” of experience than you would know what the hell your problem is.
Know one is going to help you if have that attitude.

i’ve seen people with over 20 years of experience get stumped on something, it happens to everyone
and i found the problem, and yes he was whineing, just like your bitching and being an ass
thanks for the help to those who gave genuine advice
First of all, why don’t you learn how to spell you fucking kid.
:jerkoff: And thats what you do all the time cause you can’t get none.
i sry i don win at gramer on the intraweb  i would spend more time commenting on age, ammount of pussy i’ve had, etc, but honestly, your just not worth that much time out of my life. im sorry you got your little e-feelings hurt but this had nothing to do with you in the first place
as for the problem, my exhaust was just bounceing up and hitting my shift linkage, made a brace at work to keep it in place and has been perfectly fine since
