Went to the track last night with my 93 RS, 140,000 no interior, and this is what happened:
My first race was a 95 Civic Ex 5spd, 130,xxx. I killed him off the line and pulled 3 cars on him by the end.
The next race was a 2001 Mustang v6 automatic. Same as the Civic Ex.
Then I raced my old 91 integra ls that i sold to my friend kevin and got beat by like 3 carlengths. When i owned it, it had 190,000, intake, short geared trans, removed power steering and a/c.
The last 5 races of the night were against a 96 Accord Lx (2.2L, 5spd, ghetto ram-air, no muffler). He messed up the first 2 times, missing second gear. The third time he missed 3rd. The 4th time his headlights were at my door from start to finish. the 5th time he burned out his clutch. Today i bought some 5zigen Imperio 17s with Ventus tires and removed a/c. Will i be able to beat the accord next friday with these rims? What should i launch at?(now i launch at 2500, dump the clutch and floor it.) Next time ill post time slips.
so what did you run ?
Those wheels will probably just slow you down.
Not sure what i ran… its called streetracing/test n’tune. at US-41,They only use the tree and timeslips on saturdays and sundays. But couldnt i just launch a lot higher and burn him off the line?
sounds like a pretty cheap place to me, if they dont even give slips…
test n tune where I go gives slips… hmmm weird
I hope you kill those I went tuesday and this dude next to me in a kitted eclipse with his girl were like looking like they were gonna spank me… haha… he ran 17.5 poor guy! even tho my 16.3 against him wasnt very impressive
16.3 would make me happy! Compared to my daily driver (98 Monte Carlo w/ heavy-ass 18"s) The integra feels so much faster.(its kinda sad) Anyway, the track does suck. Most of the time on the streetracing nights, they start the race with a flashlight.
Yeah no shit, my drag strip does slips no matter what. This “drag strip” of his sounds more like ricer central “Everyone line up and get to that stop sign as fast as you can!”
What’s the fuckin point of “Test and Tune” if you have no idea what you even ran? You can’t even see if there are any noticable changes E.T. wise. How gay.
Apparently some of you guys aren’t into the ‘drag racing’ scene as much as you think you are. The point of not providing time slips, is to get kids off the street and onto the track. They don’t use the timer, boards, or slips, so it’s cheaper to get in. If it’s going to be $30 to race on a test 'n tune, most ‘street racers’ will just stay on the streets. Besides, if you display the times, no one will want to race you and you’ll lose your ‘street cred’.
Let’s start thinking before we post okay? :burnout:
30 bucks Stu, 10 bucks where I go… and there are even more people who pay just to watch… and let there car sit… when they know they would be raping the tracks all night… friggin show boats with all the cash … damn them! or should I say damn there parents!
Stu… aer you serious about the 30 bucks??? 15 is the most ive ever paid… and it was at a real nice place… Quaker City Dragway… and I pay 10 at a “fair” place… Dragway 42 … I know thats not expensive… about as much gas as it would cost to drive around and look for people to street race haha
Yeah, that’s one of the complaints about our track; but at the same time, I hear it’s one of the nicest in the country.
At US-41 It was empty. I paid $25 all together for me to race and 2 friends to watch.
so… im guessing 15 for you to race and 5 a piece for spectators… that is how it is at Quaker… and they are real professional about things… et slips and everything… test n tune for a few hours then brackets… they even use point systems and keep track all year…
QuakerDragway.com I believe is the site…
but the other one I go to… Dragway 42 10 for racers 5 for spectators not very professional and only has test n tune… and on certain days you can do brackets… they also keep points for brackets.
its 13 dollars at atco raceway nj…i ran my car last tuesday with a dissapointin 16.7…well i shouldnt say dissappointin, i should say expected( cracked crank pulley, valve seal leak, and my head gasket is startin to go)…so yea thats what i ran, only got one time cuz it was gamblers night so all the 8 second cars was there, i got in line at 715…didnt get my 1 and only run till 945 :bang:
Yes, lets actually think before we post. Not ALL drag strips cost $30 to run. Mine costs $5 to run and $3 for spectators. I do however believe that some people will simply not race do to a slow time, so they would rather it just be blank. I however, really don’t care and race for the enjoyment, not the credibility which makes no difference anyway.
To be honest, I don’t think most drag strips care about how safe the streets are rather than how safe their strip is. They most likely think “Hey if those ricers go out racing every night on a well populated road, that’s one less dipshit on our track”
:werd:
Why would I want my time posted anyway? So all the guys in the Evos, 5.0s, and T/As can point and laugh when I return from a 16.xx run? I was probobly the only one in the track with a paid off car that I bought myself.
Where im from, its not uncommon for kids to get RX-8s and M3s for first cars.
Some 16 year old came in to my work the other day complaining “I wraped my Lightning SVT around a tree, now my parents made me get a Evo VIII.”
This is where you smirk because you know that you’ve already got one of the best cars out there! Lol.
A note on the times: If you truly are worried about what other people think with highly modified cars which are mostly used for drag strips anyway, you’re probably not having any fun.
Wow, a lot of you guys are pussies and idiots. My track costs $30 to race at becuase it’s a nice track. We have a track in Colorado that is cheaper, but it’s less crowed because it sucks dick.
Second, of COURSE the drag strip doesn’t care about street racing. the Colorado State Patrol and other organizations do though, and they sponsor it. Money talks youngins.
Third, you guys are really afraid of people seeing your times? Then stop only going there for test and tune and do some bracket racing. Then it won’t matter what your times are, only how consistent you are. Quit being wussies and go to the track already. Not everyone can afford fast cars.
Well said.
