What AEM intake is this?

Just picked up what I believe to be an AEM short ram for cheap. I know this isn’t the proper one for an Integra, but I’m wondering what it is for, and if I can make it work.

I bought the intake from a guy with a Del Sol, and looking up the part number 21-411 shows it as a full CAI for a Del Sol. I’m sure this is also an older product, so I’m not sure if part numbers have changed or not.

It looks as though the battery will come in the way, and I wouldn’t think I could mount to anything. If I can’t get it to work, I’ll sell it to somebody who could use it and save up for a proper one.

It doesn’t look as though it would fit.

if the part number indicates its a cold air intake for a del sol, then its for a del sol. reason it looks like that in the pictures because it was cut to turn into a short ram.

if it wasn’t cut, then the end of the pipe where you would attach the filter would have a rolled edge, like the opposite end.

in the end, sell it, get one specifically made for the integra.

Looks like the same cheap tube that every intake is made out of except this one has an AEM sticker that adds horsepower.

Good call on that, I was starting to wonder that myself. I just didn’t understand why anybody would cut a full AEM CAI to make the same short ram you could buy for $20 on eBay.

Seems to me by comparing them that the only part it could be is the top section cut just after the first bend.

well for a number of reason.

could be for those who wish to switch back and forth between the two.

or

raining season, and they feel much safer with a short ram than cold air.

True, but if you look at the CAI it’s a 2-piece design, so you could just take the bottom half off and throw the filter on the top half. Or rather than chopping your $150 AEM, you could just buy a $20 short-ram on eBay instead.

If I can rig it up to work somehow, I’ll throw some pics up. Looks like it will hit the battery, so since it’s cut already I might just chop it shorter to clear.

problem is, our cold air intake is a one-piece design. the older design is a 2 piece design, but with a smaller diameter piping(2.5") vs. new one piece design being at 2.75".

they might have cut it to add a bypass valve as well.

and the AEM sticker doesn’t add horsepower, but does get around the problem of having to switch to stock once a year to pass inspection.

yeah, my cold air was originally a one piece, but it was cut to accomodate those rainy seasons.
