Long story short I’ve tried many car air freshners, home freshners, gels, vent sticks, little trees and still cannot get that feeling of getting hit by a wall freshness and get rid of the smell of a 20 year old car musty smell.
So let me know what you are using to mask that 20 year old smell that will last longer than a couple of weeks.
I know the CSX Freshner will get mentioned because of is JDM origin but is it really worth the $20…
(If you suggest a good cleaning of the interior should do it, its already been done.)
I just use Little Trees - Black Ice. A 3 pack lasts at least a month (if not closer to two) for me. But then I like a subtle scent, i dislike the “wall of aroma” as you mention.
Though i did recently buy a vehicle in which the owner used the CSX freshener, and with 70k miles on the clock the car still smells like new, i really dig it. They might get spendy, but they do last much longer than the trees.
That CS-X3 squash smell is great, but I’m sure you can find something you like at the local store for a lot less. I always got compliments about how my car smelled when I had the CS-X3, till someone stole it… bastards.
I used to get this shit from the dealer you spray it in the intake to the vents on the outside of the car, a good portion of the smell comes from the vent system as well as carpets i guess, but whatever the shit was it worked amazing, can’t remember the name for the life of me.
All Honda and Acura dealerships carry the CS-X3 squash air fresheners. You can buy either the refill or the cartridge with the refillable squash inside.
Just got back from walmart after researching a few product.
Came back from Walmart with something from California Scents in a tin can which is basically 3 blocks of what looks to be like cork but its scented. Pretty strong at first so I closed up the opening to a little crack. From the reviews on Amazon its supposed to last a long time.
Also read some reviews on Amazon about a aerosol from Blue Magic called Pure Citrus Orange 100% citrus that is supposed to remove, not “mask”, odors in its entirety. Sprayed that in my car and let it sit for about 5 mintues so we’ll see how it goes.
Total spent was $2.78 for the California Scents and $3.98 for the Orange Citrus spray.
So after a few days I am very much in awe with the California Scent air freshner. I put that in my girlfriends car and it is still just as good as I put it in since day 1 (Been only a week with the flaps barely open but it’s still very noticable). Heard these can last up to 1 month to 3 months without losing the smell which exactly what I am after.
As for the spray it’s nice but having to remember to spray your car every now and then gets a little tiring so I will be using that for the house.
I will be getting myself one of the California Scents for my car as soon as possible.
I always go to this local asian auto parts store, they have a bunch of cool jdm air fresheners to choose but they don’t last very long. I just went out and bought the black ice and its too strong for my taste. It smells like cheap cologne and it reminds me of high school, after gym class in the locker room with all the b.o. and everyone spraying their cheap axe spray. Also, i had a friend in my car and she said that it smelled persian lol.
