I’m considering buying a b16 to throw in my 93 ls. the price seems to average around 500 + shipping unless i get a gen2, which is more like 900+shipping. I was just wondering what i have to do and how much i have to spend top make the first gen obd0 b16 work in my obd1 teg. Cause if its gonna cost me another 400 i might as well buy the gen two and get the extra 10 hp and have it already be obd1.
read the vtec swap guide (download it, its in the Teg Tips).
also, $500 is just going to be for the longblock. You’re going to want a tranny as well. Using your non vtec tranny would be a very bad idea.
converting to obd1 isn’t hard. You can use your injectors from your b18a. And even your distributor, however it might be a better idea to upgrade to a vtec one. Then all you’ll need is an ecu.

IMO the 2nd gen isn’t worth the extra money. Especially if you’re like most people and are planning to uprgrade the cams and pistons in the future anyway.
