Stupid question…I recently ordered some new seats…well, they are not going to be using the auto seats belts, obviously…so what do you do after you get the new seats? You still have to deal with that belt moving when you start you car? And does this mean the seat belt light will always be on? Interesting…
the clip will still slide back and forth when ya open the doors, i guess you could disconnect them. jus depends on your local areas seatbelt laws. im in cali and use a harness… and have never had problems when i get pulled over. and yes the seatbelt light will stay on unless you close the circut for them. jus put a piece of electrical tape on the cluster window and you wont see it. during the day its not a problem… its at night when that red light becomes irritating (thus the reason for the black tape).
also when you remove them you will definatly need to close the circut on the male plug that come up thru the carpet… if you dont you will hear the beeep beeep beeep beeep 24/7.
thank you for the reply. based on what you said, all i really have to do is cut off the seat belt connection (the wires) which clip on to the bottom of the seat and just clip them on to the connection as if the seat still was there. the computer should read a seat, right?
you dont have to cut the wires… it disconnects. youll see when you tilt the seat back to remove it… then cut two pieces of wire about 2 inches long, expose the ends and close the circut with them. fold the wires over the male clip from the floor and either secure with a zip tie or jus two full layers of electrical tape and youll be good. thats what i did. if you cut the wires you will have to deal with having to solder them back together if you ever want to put the stocks back in for whatever reason. OR jus go to the junk yard and cut the wire harness off one of those cars and then use the female clip to make the connection, then you could jus conect those wires that were cut. still does the same ****, but in that case you stiil have your original wires intact just in case i dunno hahah… my light stays on and i have not covered it with tape fyi… its been like that for so long ive jus gotten used to it by now.
thanks! i am gonna do that tomorrow…
There is a computer in your passenger side kick panel that you can just disconnect and the light and the belts won’t move. Just be sure that you doors are shut so that the belts are in the back position. I believe it is a blue plug.
