Ok my transaxle has been grinding for about a year now. My friend replaced the synchros last fall. It’s and A1. But it still grinds even after he replaced the synchros. It seems like it grinds mostly at lower RPM’s. I talked to the guy at Synchrotech and he said it sounds like the synchro spring and sleeves are probably bad. I was kind of pissed after I got the car back and it still grinded. Do you guys think it would be worth rebuilding? My buddy has an S1 trans out of his parts car. The guy who had his parts car before him said it didn’t grind but my bud never drove it. He wants $75 for it. Should I roll the dice and get his S1? Are the A1 transaxles hard to put sleeves in?:dunno:
i know i def would. especially if it is the b16 s1. the s1 is a good transmission…just has the smaller input shaft versus the ys1.
