what ecu with ls/vtec?

i’m building my block right now, but just for ahead of time, i was wondering what was recommended and which would be best for ls/vtec. right now i have a spoon ecu which has really good fuel enrichment when vtec is engaged. but its a b16 ecu. and with the motor being a b18a bottom end, what should i do? should i just get a v-afc? any ideas?

If you already have a vtec ecu with spoon program I would suggest getting the vafc you mentioned.

stand alone is the way to go! NON OBD is very limited to programs! I’m still in search for one!

Let me tell you what you NEED to do as I have studied this in great detail.

You need an obd1 ecu controlled by a hondata ecu management setup. Any obd1 ecu will do while using hondata but the one to get would be the p72 from the 94-95 gsr. You can also use one from 92-95 civic, 92-95 teg, and prolly some others but those’r the ones i know for sure. If you have a 90-91 teg, you’ll need an obd1 distributor, and some other ignition pieces which I can get you the part #'s if necessary. The Hondata setup is the only way to maximize an ls/vtec setup. A cheaper way if you’re on a budget is to just buy the p72 ecu and hook it up to your setup. Any other ?'s lemme know- gen2tegb16a@hotmail.com HTH

well here how do i hook it up do i have to get a new harness for this to work or do i have to like splice wires in certain spots.

that’s something me and my mechanic are working on right now. He rewired his car completely but that’s cause he prolly had a slow day at the dealorship and nothing better to do- THIS IS NOT FUN for normal people like us. He told me to get an obd1 ecu, which I did- a pr4 from a 5sp gs G2, and cut 2 male harnesses going into the ecu from junk cars- I’ll let you know as soon as I find out what his intentions are for this or if I can think of an easier way to do this.
