im going on the freeway in first, shift at 7,900 ish(stock tach), slow shift into second smooth engagement, i have almost a full loss of power, engine sounds like its “garrgling”…shift into forth to drop rpms more. the car can barely pull itself, i start to see a bunch of smoke in my rear view mirrror so i pull off, disengage clutch, and immedietly the engine dies. try to start back up, nothing, try again starts for a couple seconds, dies, its does however run (terrible) if i start it and quickly am giving it alot of gas. everything until coming to a stop was a matter of 10 seconds give or take a few. im very confused. bent valve? help. -Dan
THANKS:(
Out of curiousity, where is the car right now?

home
Sniff sniff… timing belt maybe.
i had the same problem. when i got him home i checked t. belt but that wasn’t it. if it is the same problem i had check the the little spinning rotor inside the distributer cap. the little bolt that holds it in place feel off on mine. does it backfire??
no it doesnt back fire, its just produces alot of smoke. dan is coming to look at it today. if its big, im just gonna sell the car and get a 94-95 legend coupe. ill let you know what it was though. -Dan
my car detonated in the first cylinder. there is a hole in the piston and the spark plug is all chewed to ****. hopefully you guys dont have this problem. i was NOT over revving and my engine was kept in perfect shape. now time for the rebuild, anybody have any good ideas for pistons or valves? thanks, -Dan
