There isn’t. Its illegal unless you have a medical condition. Any doubts, call CHP and tint shops and ask.
I heard a qualitative assessment of the law by a CHP officer I had met at a family party.
Basically, he says if he can make out your features… as in, he can see YOU and not just a silhouette or shadowy outline of you, then its ok. If he can’t see your eyes, he’s got a problem with it and he’ll light you up for it. By no means an official interpretation of the law, but a good rule of thumb. And, if you think about it, you probably won’t get too dark before features become indiscernible.
wow. think its just point less if u dont get the front windows…
you can only tint on the back quater windows .,…unless you have a 4 door then the back and rear passenger doors…now you can tint them as dark as you want…you can even spray oaint them and you wont get pulled over…
Wow, it must suck to live in Cali. In Texas we can do 35% on the front two and as dark as we want on the back. And carry guns with us lol.
Actually. The legal california tint percent is 86% which is barely ANYTHING. It’s easyer to just say its illegal to tint the front windows at all since it’ll be pointless and unnoticeable to do the legal limit.
It used to be 70%.
^^lol thats ironic man, stock windows on most cars(non tinted windows) come from the factory at 70%.
we get 35% in ks on the fronts and any on the back i think… but you cant tint the front windsheild… but most people get away with 20%
Maryland will let you do 35% legally… but most people i know get away with 20%. It helps if you have a sunroof, you could tint everything else but the sunroof and the sunlight coming into your car will make the tint look “lighter” than what it really is. Just a thought.
DA9TEGRA: Hahaha, That’s probably why its the legal limit.
I am a bad boy and run 45% on my front windows of my Integra. Im going to put 35% on my TL. I know its illegal and if i get popped for it. No ones fault but mine (and california law makers)
