What is this thing on my intake?

are there any hoses that connect to the other side of it?.. might jus be an air resevour (sp?) . like it allows a space for excess air to go incase there is a large surge of air in the intake tube.

I’m pretty sure it is a resonator. My Wife’s corolla has something identical on it. I removed it and capped the hole and now the intake sounds a lot “Throatier”

Is that off an integra???

it does have a small “pin-hole” sized whole in the bottom of it… i did notice that when i yanked it out for a AEM CAI.

Coool - is that only on GSR intakes? My GS has nothing like that.

I’m positive it’s a sound deadening device. Is it downstream of the air filter? If so, you’d think the open pinhole would be a risk to the motor???

Maybe its to prevent water from getting sucked into the engine?

The water would go into that canister, and then drip out of the pinhole, similar to the one we have directly under our headlights

is that off a G2 teg? Ive never seen one before

The hole that it connects to on the bottom of the hose looks to be about the size of a cap off a Mobil1 bottle of oil. Maybe Ill plug it up like David said.

It didnt notice the pinhole on the bottom… Although It didnt have anything in it.

it is a resonator helps to improve the torque respone of the engine, A magazine here did a test on a lancer using different sizes of ressies attached to the intake pipe and found that they actually did make a difference. If you remove it and leave everything else stock you will lose some power at some point in the rev range. it is from the factory- they wouldnt spend any money on a little extra bit of plasic if it didnt do anything at all right?
