hey i need some help on what kinda rotors i should get for my teg. it has 17" rims on it with some work but not much… my stock rotors are totally warped, they’re horrible, so if you can please give me some tips i’d really appreciate it… w/ preferably links, so i can check em out, thanks!!
oo sorry dude, im still new to alot of this i know some stuff, but not everything, i like to learn about it and be right about it at the same time, so i’ll correct my grammer next time. thanks…
JCWhitley has a set of cross-drilled for really cheap. i know there a little to much for daily driving, but i have them and i drive on them everyday, no problems. and they look bitchen.
i would rather get slotted rotors than drilled ones. i think the drilled ones are weaker and may even chew up pads. i think the slots make for a slight fractional increase of surface area as the pad travels into the slot. I also have a fear of the holes rusting. then again thats just me, living in a very humid climate.
slotted and drilled is the way to go for max heat disipation but pretty much if its only tracked frequently would i buy them. cheaper stuff is going to be better to replace when they wear on normal street driving.
I bought off of ebay few years back, the brembo slotted and crossdrilled rotors from irotors (I think) and I loved them. The Teg stopped quicker and there was a significant difference in brake pedal feel.
BUT when I changed my rotors, I also bought axxis metal master pads along with goodrich SS brake lines.
The combo worked really well for me on the autoX track.
Actually…slotted or drilled are good as long its a good company…drilling weaken rotors if some cheap company just drills holes in a pair of oem or vented rotors. But when a good name like brembo sells drilled and slotted rotors then you dont have to worry about anything cause those brakes are C.A.D designed…meaning the are balanced so when material is drilled out it dosent weaken the rotor cause it was built and designed to be drilled and so on so forth. So sticking with brembo, or willwood or powerstop will get you good rotors without worries. if you dont want to spend that much on a daily driver…just upgrade too SS lines and a good set of cermaic pads and buy new oem spec rotors…you will feel the difference in feel and gain better brake performance all around.
The information immediately above is not entirely accurate. Wilwood stopped using cross-drilled rotors on many of their big-brake setups due to rotor overheating (not enough rotor left to take the heat from braking). There is a delicate balance between heat dipasitation (sp?) and overheating resistance. I’ve found often times that cross-drilled or slotted rotors will, infact, overheat more easily because they don’t have enough material left to be resistant to overheating and they don’t cool off fast enough.
I have Brembo Blanks (or known as OEM replacements by Brembo) with AEM pads. Works pretty good. Got this 2 years ago and pad life still looks wonderful. Just a suggestion.
