What style of strut bar?

I have seen two differnt styles of strut bars. One is the more flat bar (like the DC bars), and the other is the round bar. Which holds better?

i have a spoon bar on my car ( flat style ) and Dan has a OBX bar ( round style ) on his… as long as its solid and doesn;t flex… it will work well. IMO DC bars are POS’s

I saw the round OBX bars, but I found the flat OBX bars for a great deal. What do ya think?

what ever suits yer taste IMO. your engine bay

I have the OBX and like it a lot. As long as it’s stiff, it doesn’t matter what it looks like. Stay away from DC Sports though, whatever moron thought up putting a holes in the bar should be shot.

true.

I have a generic ebay one and it works great. However it was the biggest pain in the ass to install. I had to flex it around a steel bar to get it not to rub on the intake manifold.

Eeh. It looks and feels great now though

i have a neu speed bar… i dunno hwo to describe it… i liek it better than those adjustable ones

when installing the adjustable ones… how do u adjust the tightness??? by pulling the two braces together or by pushinf them apart??

Two adjusting screws on each side allow for tightening.

That’s what all the girls say when they see how small I am.

Seriously, I’ve heard the same things about strut bars. As long as it is solid, then you are in good shape. I have heard that the really cheap ones fit poorly. (yes they do) Otherwise up to you. The only DC bar I would consider would be the Rear Lower, but that is only because I cannot find another brand.

g2integrity and anybody else out there…

just wondering how the fit and finish was no your OBX front struts. I’m looking for front struts too but everything that i seemed to be reading evry seems to have had some problems with installs.
1)did you have to relocate ANY containers or ANYTHING else???
2) how was the fit? bolt right in or was there adjustments that had to be made?
3)how much$$$ and where???
looking fir the most painless front strut to install, and light in the pocket book too…
please email me back @ vang004@yahoo.com
thanks…

If you have ABS, you have to remove the metal bracket that keeps the wires and plugs together. You’ll need to remove 3 screws holding the bracket down and you’ll also have to use a flathead screwdriver to remove the plugs from the bracket. Also, you’ll have to remove the screws securing the fuse box on the right-hand side of the engine compartment so that you can bolt the strut bar bracket to the right-hand shock. I have an OBX bar and I was able to install it with relative ease. You just have to fiddle around with the strut bar brackets to make sure that they’re not interferring with any of your cables. It should take you less than half an hour if you’re a complete noob.

 i dont like em either as i think theyre a rip, and i dont think having holes in support structures is the greatest idea, but you would think dc knows what theyre doing and figured it was ok. however i think i recall someone doing a test on them (dont know which bar exactly) with less than spectacular results.
