what to do..

Ok here we go… I have a stock b18a1 with 184xxx on it. 2nd and 3rd gear grind on the tranny. VERY annoying… but I want to go with a JDM B18C. LS/vtec would be much cheaper for me as of now. I would love to go either way, but what are the excat parts i’d need to change for the LS/vtec swap? how would I know if my block could handle the new head?? plz help!

I would recommend if you plan on going ls/vtec that you do not use the stock b18a block, unless you rebuild it. Putting more power to a 17+/- year old block you will run into some serious reliability issues, at least that’s how I see it. If you go this route and have the money get a b20 block or a b18b block.
If you want reliability just do a b18c1 swap, it might cost a bit more, but it gives you piece of mind.
As per what needs to be changed, do some searching on here and honda-tech and you will find tons of info.
Heres a little something to get you started

I was thinking about doing an ls/vtec swap, but went B20Z instead. I think I made the better choice.

yea it would, but you might want to adress the problem with the transmission first, but golden eagle sells a pretty complete conversion kit which includes conversion dowel pins, oil line, oil filter adapter, and a plug to plug a hole in the vtec head u wont need thus the need for an oil line and a new hole on the head u or a mechine shop will make to the oil filter adapter.

might want to check things and change things when u do this like swap water pump, check valves and valvesprings and such too, many people for this engine set up and also as many against it too, you just gotta :search:
