Find things saying S1 trannys could be JDM B16 X-Si or USDM b18a. Doesn’t say anything else about how to tell.
^Yup. No way to tell w/o driving it or pulling it apart to count teeth and calc the ratios. Btw, the numbers you’re seeing on the trans case have nothing to do with a VIN. Only the newer transmissions had a VIN tag on them, the older ones have a number but it isn’t a VIN.
actually there is a way to tell. you turn the input shaft a certain number of revolutions and count how many times the output shaft turns in relation. unfortunately, i don’t recall the specific numbers. but it is a method that, in theory, should work
